Small Town Brewery is dedicated to crafting gruit-inspired beers. Gruit–German for herbs–describes the ancient practice of bittering ales with roots, spices, flowers, and berries. Tim Kovac, founder and brewmaster of Small Town Brewery, uses a proprietary technique to infuse a specialty blend of herbs and spices into his brewing process to create gruit-inspired beers with the unmistakable taste of nostalgia featuring classic American flavors.

Draft. Looks, smells and tastes just like rootbeer. I cant even detect the alcohol in this. Dangerously tasty.

Sampled from the tap at the Mundelin craft beer fest. Pours a cloudy honey amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of honey and sweet grains with an earthy barrel note. Flavor is sweet with honey and caramel a bit of alcohol in finish.

Sampled from the tap at the Mundelin beer fest. Pours a dark brown with a light brown head that remains throughout the beer. Aroma smells just like root beer, very sweet. Flavor is extremely sweet as well and just like root beer. Personally not a root beer fan, but it does taste just like it.
