2022 bomber drunk 8/23/23. Clear, dark. Tan head, quickly to ring. Nose is initially quite full of whiskey, as is the flavor. At first I declare it to be too whiskey-forward, with notes of alcohol fast on its toes. But it gets softer, richer, sweeter, more syrupy (never actually syrupy or sweet), just moreso than when more chilled and upon first sip. There's a touch of alcohol throughout, propelled by the strong whiskey character, but the body is near perfect, as is the attenuation. This is a more traditional, albeit giant RIS, not today's soft, syrupy monsters. Yet it's not too light ever. Excellent, peppery, spicy, lead-forward whiskey, plentiful oak and vanilla, chocolate, earth and lingering spice. Soothing body with excellent attenuation and still ample maltiness.

2021 release 1 bomber drunk 8/23/23. Clear dark. Tan head shows some decent retention on the rim. Mint is quite prominent. Surprised there's still so much left after two years. Light oak/whiskey interjects, as well as nutty cacao, with earth, hints of vanilla and some licorice. Clean, not boozey, with excellent malt and whiskey character. Soft, malty, plentiful, robust whiskey up front that doesn't sour/sharpen on the finish. Mint is spicy contributing an almost licorice character with sweet caramel and earthy, nutty cacao. Body is deceptively fuller than the initial sip with whiskey and oak tannin, as well as caramel-like sweetness contributing quite a bit of strength on the end. Thought there was some oxidation initially, but I don't really taste it after it warms and breathes. My only real complaint is that there's a lot of licorice character that builds on the finish; not exactly sure where that's coming from.

20/8/2023. Can shared by The Blackhaddock. Pours hazy pale yellow gold with a short lasting frothy white head. Aroma of sweet citrus, stone fruits, peach, sherbet, grapefruit, midget gems, tutti frutti. Fairly sweet with moderate bitterness and light tartness. Moderate bdy, slightly creamy, quite fizzy. Nice sweet and tart finish. Liked this.

2021 500mL bottle drunk 8/17/23. Dark. Undetermined clarity. Tan head quickly to ring. Stiff bourbon, not too stiff, with no adjunct, since there is none. Some roast, some vanilla, some oxidation. It gets softer, as far as the malt but the bourbon hangs on with lead, spice and some sharpness. Chocolate and caramel with no roast or booze. Soft, malty, graphite-heavy with strong bourbon and pencil lead. To me, the difference between this and the very top tier stouts is the texture. While this is still medium+ bodied, it's just not got that syrupy sticky, viscous character that I love. It's dry, highly attenuated and not thin, but just not quite as sticky and rich as I want. Still, a nitpick, as this stuff is fantastic. Excellent flavors, balance, bourbon, no booze, etc...

2021 bottle drunk 8/11/23. Clear, dark, small, tan head, moderate-to-low retention. Nose is super easygoing, mellow, peppery and lead/salt-heavy bourbon. Chocolate, graham cracker, caramel, hint of toastiness and no roast or excess sugar. No booze. Easygoing, well-aged coffee with, again, no excessive roastiness. Soft, succulent, not quite sweet, great attenuation. Lead, salt, spice from the big, but mellowed, well-aged bourbon. Lots of chocolate and caramel. No booze, low vanilla. Bourbon spice/acidity just balances effortlessly. Malty, but lighter in body, relative for the style. Elegant, lovely.

Pours a black body and a stiff light brown head with eternal retention. Aroma's: roasted, coffee grind, dark chocolate, a hint of coconut. Retronasal it's sweetish, red fruit, chocolate, light coconut, roasted. Flavor is moderate sweet, moderate roasted bitter. Very low carbonation. Medium bodied. Long finish, with lots of roasted malt anddarkchocolate, moderate bitter.
