Description
David Cole and Peter Erickson are the founders and co-owners of Epic Brewing Company. Cole and Erickson, originally from California, started an international aquaculture company in Utah in 1992. In 2008, Utah law changed allowing these two entrepreneurs to pursue their longtime dream of opening a strong beer microbrewery in Utah, like those they frequented in the Golden State.
Admittedly, beer geeks, foodies, and "Epic" adventure junkies, share a passion for making and drinking fine ales and lagers. The Epic team has a strong belief in doing everything "all out."

Tap at BeerTemple, Amsterdam, 19th April 2023. Pours a clear white wine looking beer. Aroma is vineous and light peach. Taste is light acidic, very light in the mouth, cider, wine and light funk. Not my thing

22 oz. bottle, pours jet black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out strong whiskey barrel presence, subdued coffee and cocoa, with a fair bit of booze. Flavour is subtler for the style but the barrel complexity opens up as you sip more; there's plenty of whiskey barrel presence, subdued coffee and cocoa, booze. Medium sweetness with a big whiskey finish. Not one of the upper tier BBB's, but very nicely done.

22 oz. bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is pretty subdued on the rum barrels, bringing out more of the coffee, whiskey and cocoa as usual. Flavour is much the same, not really showing much rum: there's coffee, whiskey, and cocoa nibs. Medium-bodied (light for the style), with more whiskey than anything on the finish. Good but I don't really get the rum and it's a bit less impressive than some other BBB variants.

22 oz. bottle, pours black with a small brown head. Aroma brings out lots of toasted coconut upfront, with coffee further back, a little cocoa, and whiskey barrels. Flavour brings out the coconut upfront, with a nice integration of coffee, cocoa and whiskey barrel further back. The coconut is not monolithic, but rather showcases upfront amidst the other beautiful elements. Excellent as usual from this series.

Bottle, 0.375l. Aroma is vinous, cellar-like, peachy and woody with mild vanilla note. Pours hazy golden orange color with thin quickly diminishing white head, yeast and fruit residue and sparkling appearance. Taste starts tart vinous and citrusy with peachy note, following is woody with tannins and astringent mouthfeel. Medium to full body, slick texture and average carbonation in palate. Hellish tartness that makes you brainless…

22 oz. bottle, pours jet black with a small beige head. Aroma is loaded with bourbon barrels, intense coffee, maple syrup, and a touch of cocoa. Flavour is rich, with lots of coffee and maple syrup upfront, accentuated by the barrels and a hint of salt. Syrupy but not too cloying or viscous, with a nice coffee- and barrel-centric finish. Excellent.
