Description
The story of Bear Republic, like most other craft brewers, begins with homebrewing. It was the spark for our passion to create quality, hand-crafted beers. We are a family-owned brewery, located in the heart of Sonoma County, California. The company was established by the Norgrove family in 1995, with Richard G. Norgrove as brewmaster.

After 11 years of rapid growth, we opened our Factory 5 brewery in Cloverdale, California, where we brew and package all our beer that goes to market. We hand select our ingredients for each batch, the grains and hops we use are chosen for their unique characteristics and the recipes and formulations are patiently developed over time. Many recipes start as a home-brew and then develop into the commercial beer available in many retail outlets today. We pride ourselves in using our established methods while always looking to improve efficiencies and techniques that allow us to provide quality beer to share with the world.

Beginning 2023 thw brewery was acquired by Drake’s Brewing.

Can from Bine & Vine. Pours dark orange tinged gold with a large foamy white head. There's a lot of citrus in the aroma. Mild caramel support. Med plus body. Flavor is very citrus - verging on zest. Mild caramel support. Verges on juicy. Dry. Burningly bitter. Turns rather towards pine after awhile. Just excellent.

Can from Bine & Vine. Pours dark brn/blk with a largish creamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate, treacle, toasted malt and a touch of anise. Full bodied. Flavor is very chocolate, has some treacle, somewhat burnt malt, and more than a touch of anise. The anise tends to linger long into the finish. It's not dry, but it's bitter enough to deal with that. Extremely tasty.

Bottle from Bine & Vine. Pours clear bright gold with a slight, creamy white head. Light citrus aroma. Flavor is pale malt with some citrus, arguably grapefruit, to go with it. It's a very mild thing.

From a 473ml can on 5/12/2020 (shared by Butz with massive thanks). Pours a clear deep golden with a medium head. Has a gorgeous nose - masses of caramel toffee, caramel, pine and resin. The taste is every bit as impressive with the same elements as the aroma coming through in spades. Full bodied with a slick mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Exhibits supreme harmony and balance and simply bursts with flavour and hoppy goodness. One of the finest double WC IPAs I’ve ever had. It actually shaded the can of Firestone Double Jack I bought with it. A fucking incredible beer.

16 ounce can. Deep orange gold pour. Large dense rocky beige head. Earthy malt aroma hints at honey and stone fruit. Flavor is more honey, orange, papaya, stewed peaches, guava and sweet tea. Complex with lots of layers. Some booziness in middle. Turns resiny with a hint of pine in the finish.
