Description
The story of Bear Republic, like most other craft brewers, begins with homebrewing. It was the spark for our passion to create quality, hand-crafted beers. We are a family-owned brewery, located in the heart of Sonoma County, California. The company was established by the Norgrove family in 1995, with Richard G. Norgrove as brewmaster.
After 11 years of rapid growth, we opened our Factory 5 brewery in Cloverdale, California, where we brew and package all our beer that goes to market. We hand select our ingredients for each batch, the grains and hops we use are chosen for their unique characteristics and the recipes and formulations are patiently developed over time. Many recipes start as a home-brew and then develop into the commercial beer available in many retail outlets today. We pride ourselves in using our established methods while always looking to improve efficiencies and techniques that allow us to provide quality beer to share with the world.
Beginning 2023 thw brewery was acquired by Drake’s Brewing.

Bottle, shared @ jbrus’s place. Black color, almost opague. Cream, black chocolate and cacao in the aroma. Strong roasted flavor with dark chocolate, blackcurrant and coffee. Long roasty hopbitter aftertaste with cacao powder. Excellent brew! Re-rate @ home. Malt, coffee, salt and licorice in the aroma. Alcoholic flavor with roasted malt coffee, licorice and salt. Roasty bitter aftertaste.

Bottle. Dark brown color. Very fruity (peach, pineapple) aroma with rye bread. Rye brad in the flavor, with flowery and earthy hops. Hint of berries. There is a rude transition between the fruity aromas and the harsh bitter flavors. This beer is quite tasty, but lacks balance.

Bottled 355ml (Bear Rep webshop/EU)
Opaque colour, small beige head and lacing. Roasted, ash, soya sauce, raisins in the nose. Medium-bodied. Toasted flavour with soya sauce, raisins and some alcohol. Smooth palate but somewhat a bit simple/rough old school stout. Very likeable but nowadays could use more than 55 IBUs.

Pour is a orange hazy with a average white head. Aroma is cantaloupe and honeydew melon. Flavor is more melon with a chalky dry malt. Finish is gone and dries out the mouth. Some stone fruit is detected as well. It's hazy but not a hazy NE IPA. Still pretty good with lots of melon and it's super dry.

Gold with a lingering, creamy white head. Aroma full of peach, citrus and caramel. Bittersweet turning more bitter at the end. Light floral notes at the finish. Medium body—nice creamy body. Very nice!

The Aromas are strong breakfast cereal with some crackers and a hint of fruit. Had a very short lived fizzy off-white head. Flavors are tart passion fruit and guava but not much else. Barest hint of sweetness, low bitterness okay body and finish. Nothing too special.

Can from Cap Tap. Pours moderately hazy gold with a white head. Aroma of green melon and white berries. Med plus with a rather full/slick mouthfeel. Rather juicy; fruitily hoppy - green melon, maybe mango and citrus. It's suggesting it wants to be dank. Not wholly dry, but nicely bitter in a moderate way. Caramel support is detectable. Very nice ale.
