About
The story of Bear Republic, like most other craft brewers, begins with homebrewing. It was the spark for our passion to create quality, hand-crafted beers. We are a family-owned brewery, located in the heart of Sonoma County, California. The company was established by the Norgrove family in 1995, with Richard G. Norgrove as brewmaster.

After 11 years of rapid growth, we opened our Factory 5 brewery in Cloverdale, California, where we brew and package all our beer that goes to market. We hand select our ingredients for each batch, the grains and hops we use are chosen for their unique characteristics and the recipes and formulations are patiently developed over time. Many recipes start as a home-brew and then develop into the commercial beer available in many retail outlets today. We pride ourselves in using our established methods while always looking to improve efficiencies and techniques that allow us to provide quality beer to share with the world.

Beginning 2023 thw brewery was acquired by Drake’s Brewing.

Can from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours translucent gold with a foamy white head. Aroma seems juicy tropical. Med body or so. Flavor is fairly juicy, mostly tropical with some citrus. Tropical might be some passion fruit. Reasonably dry. Detectable caramel support. Moderately bitter. Tastes good.

355ml bottle. Minimally cloudy, bright golden colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Citrusy and piney, hoppy aroma, hints of orange, mandarine, lemon, grapefruit, pale and caramel malty background. Taste is crisp, bitter, citrusy and piney hoppy, notes of lemon and grapefruit, hints of orange zest, some resin, widely dry, minimally sweet malty basis. Lingering bitter hoppy finish.

Sampled from the tap at Happy Gnome. Pours a clear straw yellow with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has sweet guava and some passionfruit with straw underlying. Flavor has earthy passionfruit and guava with a straw backbone.

Frothy white head stayed on an unclear vivid golden body. Hoppy aroma with pine, grass & pith. Medium bodied, tingly over the tongue with sharp back. Tangy tastes of citrus, zest, lemon, grapefruit & hops with long bitter finish.

12 Oz bottle into an old 'Tuborg' glass on 6th March 2019. Cloudy yellow body, full white blanket of foam on top. Citrus leanings to the tropical fruit aroma and taste. Fairly sweet and refreshing, yet with a mini bitter sourness just below the surface too.
