Description
We do this because we love it.

We love that it challenges us artistically and intellectually. We love it because it tests our patience in a world that screams by. We love it because there is success in every failure. We love it because it brings us together in a time where divisiveness is pervasive.

Barclay Brewing is a small brewery which primarily focuses on barrel-aged beers. Although the focus is barrel-aged we do release non barrel-aged beers as well. Keep an eye out for stouts, IPAs, lagers, and other classic styles.

You can find Barclay Brewing Co. operating out of Twelve Percent Beer Project where the incredibly talented staff is helping us to articulate our vision.

Can from Livonia Liquor. Pours a pitch black with a finger of brown head that dissipates. Coffee focused nose with dark chocolate and vanilla as it warms. Some hazelnut and treacle notes as well. More of the same on the palate. Lingering molasses with coffee on the finish.

$6.35 pint can, WW. Yea, unpriced when I nabbed it. But whatever: another brewery tick and an imperial stout with maple! Jesus, that's thick. This seriously could be mistaken for old motor oil. Tiny dark brown head. Looks lovely. Oh that aroma is fantastic. Maple syrup, smoked peat, molasses, chocolates, tobacco, leather. Flavor is chocolate, cocoa, rich and slightly smoky maple syrup, fig newton, caramel. Sweet... but not overly. This is worth every penny. Outstanding. Not for the average stout fan.

Can (1/12/22) pour. It's a deeply hazy light brown-dark yellow with light sparkle, finger-width off-white foamy head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma is moderately strong grape and yeast. Taste is strong grape/white wine/champagne and milder dank vegetal. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with smooth, fairly thin texture, soft carbonation and crisp finish as taste. Overall, not the best single Nelson but decent all around and strong flavor.

Can shared by explosivedog: the commercial description here is kind of laughable, as this is a very sweet, oily stout, with no bitterness. Vanilla is not super overstated but the claims that this is a throwback make no sense.
