Nose is a mix of caramel and bread. Slight notice of lemon.
Taste is exactly the same as the smell. Lemon citrus perhaps a bit more noticeable. Good mouthfeel to a good beer.

„Paulaner Oktoberfestbier“, vom Faß im Paulaner im Kempinski Peking. - Ein echter Geheimtipp: das Bier stand nicht auf der Karte und wurde erst auf zweimalige Nachfrage serviert. - Goldorange, gut trüb, schöner Schaum. - In der Nase Hefe, Karamel, angenehme Toastnoten und frischer orangenfruchtiger Hopfen. - Antrunk etwas schwer, intensiv karamelmalzsüß mit Waldhonig und aromatischem, kräftig orangenfruchtig-krautigem Hopfen. Eine deutliche alkoholische Schwere macht sich vom ersten Schluck an bemerkbar und tritt zuletzt fast likörartig deutlich hervor. Mild rezent, breit vollmundig. Im Abgang milde aber nicht uninteressante krautige Hopfenherbe und leicht „grüne“ Noten, die aber nicht stören. - Köstlich hefig-malziges, knackig gehopftes, dabei schweres, ein klein wenig unrundes Festbier. Sehr probierenswert!

Vom Faß („Paulaner Bräuhaus Dunkel" im Paulaner im Kempinski-Hotel Peking. - Kastanienbraun, leicht trüb; schöne Schaumkrone. - Nase mild hefig und karamellig-dunkelmalzig mit zarten fruchtig-säuerlichen Anklängen und etwas Milchschokolade. - Antrunk schön karamellig-dunkelmalzig und dezent malzsüß mit deutlichen fruchtigen Noten (Erdbeere, vielleicht noch Johannisbeere) und etwas Bitterschokolade. Milder, schwach zitroniger Hopfen. Mild rezent, sehr süffig. Im Abgang nur sehr mild bitter; es überwiegen Malzsüße und Frucht, zuletzt auch mild erdiger Hopfen. Leicht karamelmalziger, zart erdiger Nachtrunk. - Ungewöhnlich lebhaftes, schön fruchtiges und sehr aromatisches Dunkel. Kann sich problemlos gegen eine fette Haxe behaupten.

[Draught at the brewpub] Hazy dark golden, small creamy head. Medium bodied and light buttery. Soft malt dominates. The grassy hops stay well in the background. Low bitterness. Doesn’t quite match the excellent malt character of their dark lager.

[Draught at the brewpub] Cloudy dark brown, small head. Lovely roasty malt aroma. Mediumsweet, very soft and gentle with notes of pineapple. Medium bodied with light buttery roasty maltiness. Low bitterness. Really good!
