(Bottle 100 cl) Courtesy of MoritzF. Pours a beautiful, warm, amber golden with a creamy, off-white head leaving a neat lacework. Sweetish, lightly nutty aroma. Medium body, distinctly sweet, roasted malt with lots of fruity esters - extremely fresh actually. Dry and hoppy finish. Very delicate indeed. 030407

Draught at the brewpub. Clear golden, creamy head. Lightly fruity with some sulphur. Light bodied with notes of grass and metal. Short grassy finish. Was served only after protests from the waiter, who didn’t like this beer hmself.

Cask at the brewpub. Lightly hazy copper colour. Very special estery nose with some sulphur and bubblegum. Dryish with rather clean mouthfeel and light body. Nice salty bitterness.

Draught at the brewpub. Weak bready aroma. Dark copper colour. Big, stable light brown head. The flavour is quite hoppy. OK bitterness, although a bit rough. Has some aroma hops, which is good, otherwise a little thin. Finishes with a bit of the rough bitterness I often get in alkoholfreis. OK for ABV, I guess.

Draught at the Schumacher Stammhaus, Düsseldorf
Golden to amber, clear body. Off-white frothy head, not as steady as the older one. A quite faint aroma of some hops. The flavour is mostly hoppy bitter, even reminded me of American hops, but off course it was not as bitter at all as e.g. an IPA. Still somewhat watery.

On tap at Schumacher Stammhaus in Dusseldorf.
Clear, amber body. Off-white, creamy to rocky head (sounds maybe weird to be aswell rocky as creamy, but it really was: quite steady but with some creaminess, so totally unlike Orval). Excellent lace. Ok aroma of citrus, lime, ... with some fine malts. Nicely balanced flavour: moderately bitter, lightly sweet flavour with a subtle complexity.

Draught. Dark red copper colour. Small stable creamy head. Fruity flavour with a bit of sewer. Bad bitterness ruining it for me. Hop aromatic. Too rough. 5 3 4 3 11
Draught at the brewpub. Weak fruity aroma. Clear dark copper colour. Big, stable light brown head. Clean roasted flavour, a bit fruity. By no means my favourite Alt. 5 3 6 3 12

Sehr malzig beginnt das Bier, wird aber schnell recht herb, zum Schluss auch unangenehm bitter. Das Bier ist mir zu lasch und könnte ruhig würziger sein, so kommt beim trinken des Liters keine große Freude auf. Test vom 16.7.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,8,10,5,10,8 - 8,35

(Bottle 100 cl) Beautiful amber with a fine, dense and very stable head. - a very goodlooking brew. Very roasted, malty flavours with a touch of smoke. Harmonious, balancing bitterness. Very fresh and delicious beer. 260203
