Description
On a small abandoned farm back in 2002 William Frank and Else Birk started a small brew house focusing on quality and good craftsmanship. The brewery was not far from where the Grauballe man (a bog body that was uncovered in 1952 from a peat bog) was found - hence the name Grauballe Bryghus.
Grauballe Bryghus was in these premises until the year 2013. By then it had grown so big that it was time to move to larger premises where it is today.

Can 44 cl. Pours a hazy red with a small, pinkish head. Tart berry aroma with the raspberries dominant. Medium body, dry and lactic tart with mixed berry notes. A hint of baking yeast but otherwise quite well made. 270923

Can 44 cl. Cloudy orangey golden with a smallish, white head. Lovely citrusy and tropical hop aroma - very fresh. Medium body, peachy, dry fruitiness with a slightly dank edge. Fairly solid bitterness. A positive surprise from Grauballe.

Bottle 50 cl. Pours a dark, opaque brown with an underlying orangey hue and a small, rough, beige head. Sweet overripe fruit in the nose, molasses. But the oak chips with sharp tannins dominate. Rich, sweet body, prickly alcohol and a low carbonation. But again the dry, crude oak chips loaded with tannins dominate the beer. Another example of how you cannot get the notes of barrel aging by simply adding oak chips. Will it be better in 450 years? I doubt it... 210423
