Our flagship Mason Ale Works production brewery opened in 2017 at our San Marcos Urge Common House Location. Here JJ “Sweet Meat” Jimenez, our Director of Brewing Operations, helms the wheel. All of our can releases like our popular Jambi West Coast IPA and Respeto Mexican Lager are brewed and canned in these four walls. We also crank out an extensive line-up of one-off releases out of here.

Bottle shared by Tom, thanks! Pours near black with a brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has dark grains, toffee, roasted malts and a decent amount of bourbon coming through. Flavor has strong dark grains and roasted malts with toffee and bourbon supporting.

Pretty clumsy imperial coffee stout, but still enjoyable despite its heavy-handed profile. Starts with an unexpectedly thick, gooey chocolate sweetness, yet quickly dries out, bringing out a deep anise and bitter espresso middle before the hops create a rich, roasty back end. Dark cherry, pine, and caramel notes pop up in the finish, while the fade grows boozy and somewhat abrasive. Mocha nose is lovely, as is the dark, viscous black pour. Again, the feel's off, harsh and warm, but otherwise a decent pint.

Can into a snifter showing pitch black with sparse clean white foam. The nose shows pronounced notes of green pepper and coffee bean. The palate is light bodied and lightly carbonated. Pronounced flavors of black coffee with a moderately intense coffee bitterness.

Pour is a almost clear blonde with a large white head. Aroma is pine, citrus and maybe some ripe melon. Flavor is a light hop, almost no bitterness and a little sweetness is left. This is pretty light all around. It looked and smelled good then it kind of ran out of steam and became watery and bland.

Interesting IPA, mixing pine, citrus, and earthy hops with wet, grainy malts, not unappealing, just a bit rough around the edges. Grapefruit, papaya, and lemon power the front, while the back end grows a smidge wort-ish, with a grain bin heaviness that counters the bright hop profile. Again, not a bad beer, just somewhat unrefined, in need of a little tweaking. Drinkable regardless.

Pour is a thick hazy maize color with a large white head. Aroma is a decent fruity mango hop with a little pineapple in there. Flavor is some melon and green apple with a bit of honey malt and very little bitterness. Not a hop bomb by any means but this will do just fine.
