Description
In 1564 for the first time a brewery is mentioned in Svijany. In the following years the brewery was owned by different families. In 1912 it was bought by brewer Antonín Kratochvíle. The Kratochvíle family operated the brewery till 1939. After the war the brewery was confiscated and later nationalized. in 1990 the state enterprise Vratislavice nad Nisou was created, which included Svijany Brewery. In 1998 the company Pivovar Svijany was created, which became the new owner of the brewery. In 2005, it was transformed into a joint-stock company. Gradually Svijany became the strongest regional brand with national importance. The popularity of the brewery is increasing and it is gradually being developed into one of the largest independent breweries in the Czech Republic.
Svijany Brewery is wholly Czech owned and remains one of the last in ‚domestic‘ hands.

This one hinted at greatness with a few wheat beer/hefe notes but it all came across as too weak. I wanted more. It’s like they took two bottles’ worth of beer, split them up, and added water. It just ain’t the way to go, Czech brewers.

Ziemlich milder Antrunk mit herben und trocken grasigen Noten. Süffig, aufgrund der Milde aber auf Dauer langweilig. Milder aber abgesttimmer herb-bitterer Nachhall. 9/8/8/8/6/8

Pours a clear light golden color, topped with a decent white frothy head. Mild aroma, grassy notes mostly some grains aswell .Taste has some initial sweetness, mild bitetrness in the finish. Grassy, light and crisp. Not a bad one, though plenty better out there (probably on the same shelf).

On tap U rytí?e, Brno, CZ. Says svijansky kvasni?ak, can’t seem to find it. Clear to hazy dark golden, small white head, lacing. Almost no aroma, some grain maybe. Sweet, perfumed, fake malty taste. Thin body, soft carbonation. Boring.
