Description
In 1564 for the first time a brewery is mentioned in Svijany. In the following years the brewery was owned by different families. In 1912 it was bought by brewer Antonín Kratochvíle. The Kratochvíle family operated the brewery till 1939. After the war the brewery was confiscated and later nationalized. in 1990 the state enterprise Vratislavice nad Nisou was created, which included Svijany Brewery. In 1998 the company Pivovar Svijany was created, which became the new owner of the brewery. In 2005, it was transformed into a joint-stock company. Gradually Svijany became the strongest regional brand with national importance. The popularity of the brewery is increasing and it is gradually being developed into one of the largest independent breweries in the Czech Republic.
Svijany Brewery is wholly Czech owned and remains one of the last in ‚domestic‘ hands.

Bottle @ Pivovarsky Klub. Pours clear golden with a fully lasting large and fluffy head. Very dry, bitter crisp and floral nose and flavor with a lot of fresh hops involved. A bit of buiscuit malt. Very smooth , dry and balanced. One of the better bottled beers from the Czeck Republic that I’ve had.

Bottle, max. 0.5%. Grassy hop aroma, quite sweet, like so many other NAs. Clear dark golden colour. Small white head. The flavour is a bit like the aroma, only a bit thinner. Not so good.

500ml bottle. Orange, foamy white head fades but laces well. Aroma has some cereal malt and dry grassy/ flowery hops. Flavour is barely sweet with a little tartness and some slightly metallic bitterness. Spicy hop finish. It’s as clear as bell, so maybe the lack of pasteurisation is showing up in the liveliness of the palate.

Bottled 500ml. -Courtesy of and shared with Doggythedog (thanks!)
Reddish/brown coloured, medium to big pale beige head, mild roasty nose. Roasted malt, brown sugar and some faint fruityness. Touch of caramel in the finish. Watery palate. According to label this one is "Beer of Czech Republic 2009". My vote is against.

Bottle from the Albert Hypermarket in Chodov, Prague Poured a dark red/black body with a tan head that went away slow leaving nice lacing. Weak nose, some maltiness I guess. Sweetish roasty malty taste. Very very light bitterness. Gets drier near the end. Definitely will rerate.
