Description
In 1564 for the first time a brewery is mentioned in Svijany. In the following years the brewery was owned by different families. In 1912 it was bought by brewer Antonín Kratochvíle. The Kratochvíle family operated the brewery till 1939. After the war the brewery was confiscated and later nationalized. in 1990 the state enterprise Vratislavice nad Nisou was created, which included Svijany Brewery. In 1998 the company Pivovar Svijany was created, which became the new owner of the brewery. In 2005, it was transformed into a joint-stock company. Gradually Svijany became the strongest regional brand with national importance. The popularity of the brewery is increasing and it is gradually being developed into one of the largest independent breweries in the Czech Republic.
Svijany Brewery is wholly Czech owned and remains one of the last in ‚domestic‘ hands.

Got it at Hypernova in Plzen I think. Pale golden body, small-medium thick white head that went away fast. Very dusty hoppy nose, grain, alcohol. Dusty hop in the taste as well, appley. The maltiness wasn’t all that quality giving notes of alcohol too. Weak bitterness. Not my type but got better as I drank it (wow this makes sense).

0.5 l bottle Doggythedog brought from Plzen, thanks a lot! Poured golden body, bit darker than Maj, with smaller-medium white head. Aroma is honey malty, with more hops than Maj, but quite similar. Flavor reminds it as well, but this is much better as it has more body and finer bitterness. Honey, bread, herbal notes, all this can be found here. Quite low carbonation. Finish is more bitter than sweet. Bottle says it’s not pasteurized, but I didn’t feel that at all. Anyway, not bad beer at all.

0.5 l can Doggythedog brought from Plzen, thanks! It poured lighter golden body with medium head. Fine, pretty malty aroma of honey, with some herbal hops. Bitterish flavor with some herbal notes, but thin bodied as well. Somehow different than what I’ve used to get from the style. Moderate sweeter finish. Fine beer, maybe too watery although it’s meant to be a light beer, but anyway, you won’t see me complaining while drinking it at over 35°C.
