Small, just off-whte head over well-carbonated copperish orange beer. Quite alcoholic, bit liqueurish nose, sweet with some caramel. Sweet-bready flavour, typical Vienna, with a hint of alcohol in the very finish. Bit leafy, caramel again. Light body, bit slick, well-carbonated. Rather convincing Vienna, despite the unexplicable presence of alcohol in a rather light beer. The favourite of my Swiss hosts!

50cl can from Coop, St. Gallen. The beer starts fresh and grainy. Not too intense but fresh with a nice bitterness in the end. Smooth with a soft and mild body. The aftertaste is round and fresh, hints of grain, moderate bitterness, nice.

Bottle in Switzerland. Smooth mild beginning. Hints of sourish freshness, hints of dusty yeast. Slightly sweetish but not too intense or characterful. Nice sessionable but a bit too sweetish for me with hints of grain.

Mild-smooth. Not too intense chestnut, but refreshing. Easy to drink with a body that has hints of malt and hints of chestnut-sweetness. Dry though, not much bitterness, too much grain for me. 500 ml bottle into lager glass, best before 5/27/2015. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy pale golden yellow color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of light lemon, cracker, biscuit, light honey, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance of pale malt and earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of light lemon, cracker, biscuit, light honey, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of cracker, biscuit, light honey, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and balance of pale malt and earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Very clean on lager flavors with minimal yeast ester notes present. Not much dryness after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly creamy/bready/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice unfiltered pale lager style. All around good robustness and balance of pale malt and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Very clean on lager flavors with zero estery yeast notes present. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly creamy/bready, and lightly crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.8%. Overall this is a damn nice kellerbier style. All around great robustness and balance of pale malt and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, brown sugar, light smoke, light herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts and light earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, brown sugar, light smoke, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, brown sugar, light smoke, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Light-moderate roasted dryness after the finish. Fantastic complexity and robustness of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Super clean lager flavors with zero yeast ester notes present. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy, and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an incredible schwarzbier! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A highly enjoyable offering.

50cl can. Usually called the best Swiss industrial lager, and actually living up to its reputation if you ask me. Still not a beer worth trying by any means.
