Bottle. Color: Slightly hazy orangish brown, thin beige head. Aroma: Rye bread, raisins. Taste: Over medium sweet, rye, rye bread, raisins. Malty. Notes of honey and brown sugar. Lightly lemon-like sour. Very light to zero bitterness. Pretty long lasting finish. Medium body, just below average carbonation. Not that bad at all, drinking it cold on an almost tropical sunny day on the terrace.

F: big, white, long lasting. C: deep gold, clear. A: malty, bit caramel, bready. T: malty, caramel, bit metallic, hint of mineral, touch of toast, beside I expected Russian not German beer quite ok, medium body and carbonation, 0,5l bottle from Mini Mix 30 Russian supermarket, Rue Gray 68, 1040 Brussels.

slightly cloudy dark amber colour, thin beige-ish head; aroma of honey, burnt brown sugar and sligt licorice; taste of intensive honeycomb toffee, some bread and slight sourness; good kvas...but I'm not sure that a kvas can be considered as traditional ale, whether it really contains any alcohol or not and if it is really manufactured in Lithuania...

Bavarian Helles allegedly made to a Kazakh recipe, with Russian label, from a 50 cl bottle; apparently dedicated to the Kazakh miners. Tightly cobweb-lacing, snow white, moussy, stable head slowly showing gaps in the middle, over an immediately hazy, straw blonde beer with olive greenish tinge. Aroma of old damp chicken corn, freshly cut green cabbage, freshly ironed cloth, old wet cardboard, cut and almost fermenting grass after an afternoon of lawn mowing, vague hints of chalk, extendedly stewed turnips, brown soap, minerals and old wrinkled apple peel. Neutral onset, very grainy, bit sourish but with sweetish-soapy notes as well, continuing well over the middle and making up this beer’s main business; medium carbonated, with a slick, supple, medium thick mouthfeel, feeling a tad ’fuller’ than 5.5% actually. Minerally side notes - entirely due to carbonation - accompany a softly cereally, slightly ’white’ bready, soft pale malty body, almost vaguely Kellerbier-like at times, but not quite achieving the same refinement and elegance; finishes with a certain ’soapiness’ to it as well as a continuation of this sweetish and sourish graininess, in a soft, almost ’fluffy’ manner which is most certainly related to the hazy looks of this beer. All the way at the back, a grassy, ever so slightly spicy hop touch can be felt, yet without providing any bitterness as such, unable to prevent the finish from descending into a thin ’wateriness’. Ends a bit soapy and a tad chalky too, but mostly very softly malty, with a near-bready quality to it, very inviting and ’friendly’ actually. Too bad this apparently isn’t a Kazakh country tick - but by itself, this is a very acceptable and digestible, though somewhat ’rough’ example of a Münchener Helles, with a soft, rounded, subtle malt sweetishness to it and just that almost ’invisible’ dash of grassy, noble hops for balance, faraway as they may be. I had worse examples of this style, even from Bavaria.
