Clear reddish brown colour, white foam. Nose of caramel, nuts, light roastiness. Sweet, malty and bready. Great Dunkles!

Bottle pour from Friar Tuck, Crestwood. Lightly hazy dark iced tea with light sparkle, nice head with fair retention and rings of lacing. Aroma is strong toasted malt, figs. Taste is strong toasted malt--a bit earthy/vegetal--fig, hint of toffee. Smooth, creamy texture, average carbonation and crisp finish with lightly yeasty, bitter finish. Low ratings gave me low expectations but some interesting features here.

0.5 l bottle from 'Bierothek', best before September 2024. Clear, golden with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, white head. Slightly sweetish, gently grassy-spicy, slightly fruity-floral aroma of grains, some fresh grass and a touch of lemon peel. Slightly sweet, moderately bitter, gently grassy-spicy and a bit fruity-floral taste of grains, straw, some lemon peel and hints of iron, followed by a short, quite bitter, slightly dry finish. Almost medium-bodied, gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Decent Pils, fairly grainy and crisp.

500 ml bottle. Slightly unclear golden with a foamy head. Sourdough, bread, hay, lemon and lemon zest, slightly metallic. Dry metallic bitterness, some grainy sweetness. Medium bodied, oily texture, soft to lively carbonated, dry zesty sourdoughy bready finish. A good Helles!

Sehr eigenwilliges Flaschendesign, optisch klares Gold, starke Perlung, prima Schaum. In der Nase hopfig, butterig. Im Trunk englisch, das ist keine Fruchtbombe. Hopfig, aber auch malzig, im Geschmack aber irgendwie ohne Richtung. Ich fürchte das stand zu lange.

Bottle. Mitchell’s Wines. Birthday gift off the missus. Stop bastard correcting off to of, you cunt. On the sweet side of the pilsner spectrum although it’s not hop shy. Clean enough overall. I’d smash again no bother.
