Hazy dullish amber, small head (might be the bottling). Smells like a ginger beer - not much else to say. Medium sweetness, medium ginger spice. Creamy, but somewhat washed out body. Decent, if that's your thing.

Endlich habe ich wieder einen persönlichen Höhepunkt meines biertechnischen Lebens: Vor mir steht das 3000. Bier, das ich hier auf dem Bier-Index bewerten will. Ich sitze dabei in meiner Lieblings-Craftbier-Bar "Korzo 10" in der westukrainischen Oblasthauptstadt Uzhhorod. Der triste Innenhof, der mit wackeligen Tischen zu einem Gastgarten umgebaut wurde, wirkt ebsnowenig einladen wie das Klo, das seit meinem letzten Besuch zwar ein Schloss bekommen hat, dafür aber kein Licht mehr hat. Auch ist die einzige Begrünung das Algenwachstum an den Wänden rundherum. Aber hier bekommt man die beste Bierauswahl der Gegend. Man hat sich auf IPAs und dergleichen spezialisiert und bekommt immer Bier aus dem ganzen Land. Aber kommen wir zum Bier: Es ist mein erstes "Milk Double India Pale Ale" und irgendwie hatte ich mir ein schwarzes Bier erwartet -auch trotz des Namensteils "Pale", aber es ist rötlich bis bernsteinfarben und hat eine leichte Schaumkrone, die sich aber nicht lange hält. És ist ordentlich schwer und vollmundig und schmeckt nach allerlei getrocknetem Obst. Von der "Milk" kommt die Säure, weche mir eindeutig zu aufdringlich ist. Dazu kommt Schwarzbrot und Cognac-Aroma. Mir persönlich ist das zu viel, aber da ich weiß, welchen Boom holzfassgereifte Bier und Doppelböcke aller Art feiern, bin ich sicher, dass das Bier auch in Westeuropa Interessenten finden würde.

On tap at Craft vs Pub, pours a deep dark red with a small beige head. Aroma brings out floral notes and bready caramel malt. Flavour is fairly perfumey, with bready malt. Not a whole lot of hops. Rather sweet and cloying. Not too good.

On tap at Craft vs Pub, pours black with a small tan head. Nose brings out medium roasted malt, with some alcoholic notes and chalk. Flavour is quite rich, with deep roasted malt, light alcohol and some earthy coffee. Thick palate with everything in good proportion. Really good.

On tap at Punkraft, pours a hazy dark copper with a small beige head. Aroma brings out light lactose, piney hops, and sweet bready malt. Flavour is very sweet, with lots of lactose, some citrus hops, and bready malt. Loads of lactose, but it's not cloying. Somewhat alcoholic and rather sweet. Not the best example of the milkshake IPA style. It's okay.

On tap at Odd Brew, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is loaded with butter, with caramel and some resinous hops. Flavour is unfortunately laced with diacetyl too, with caramel and subdued hops. This infection needs fixing. Not good.

Draft. Bronze-brown color, good creamy foam. Aroma: dough, caramel, mushrooms, light sour note. Taste: caramel, dough, bread, a little dried fruits and nuts, prunes, a little hops.
