Description
It started on Plaza Drive in New Albany, Indiana, with Sportstime Pizza in 1987 (now the NABC Pizzeria), followed by Rich O’s (NABC Public House) in 1990, the incorporation of the New Albanian Brewing Company in 1994 and the launch of the original New Albanian Brewery in 2002 (the first commercial brewery in New Albany since 1935). The Pizzeria & Public House are still going strong.

In New Albania, beer is a way of life. NABC stands for a quarter-century of experience, education, recognition and success. Not only that, but our machines kill fascists, too.

Now more than ever before, we ask: Can your beer do that?

22 oz. bottle thanks to queenholly. Thick oil color with thin tan head. Nose is great licorice, deep roasted chocolate malt, burnt coffee beans and ash. At the first sip a got a strong hop bitterness that reminds me of Cascade which was a big surprised since this has been cellared for at least 6 months. The bitterness is a nice way to cut all the roasted notes. Palate is thick and full with a chalky/ burnt ash texture. I don’t get any cherry or fruit but it is totally fine. I don’t know how old the bottle is but I enjoy it for what is in the glass in front of me. And to be able to still taste the hops is impressive.

Draft. Amber body with a off-white head. Aroma of toasted grain, caramel, bread and a hint of butterscotch. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Certainly not a classic ESB because it’s much sweeter than that. But it’s good. Tastes of caramel, candy, herbal hops.

Sample at the HSC July 4th beer tasting. Hazy golden color with a medium fizzy white head that burns away steadily. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops and grainy malt. Medium to full body with flavors of herbal hops, biscuit malt and fruit. The finish is moderately bitter with a peppery hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Pours dark brown with a thin and dense khaki head that evaporates gradually. to a film. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Campfire aroma with some malt behind it. Medium-bodied with a smoky malt character and notes of dark chocolate and adhesive bandage. The finish is smoky with a burnt malt aftertaste. Decent overall, but veers a little too far into smoky territory for my taste.

Bottle, thanks to RobertDale. Dark brown, nearly black in color. Lively brown head dissapates at a moderate pace... I find the aroma overly sweet; molasses, dark fruit, and anise. Reminds me of Bells 9k, but less cloying. Roast and smoke in the taste, really a campfire type flavor. Light oak and a little more molasses. Misses the mark for me.

Draft. Light bourbon, orange, and orange peel aroma. Hazy golden yellow with small head. Sweet orange malt and mildly bitter orange peel flavor. Hint of bourbon in the finish. Lingering citrus peel bitterness in the aftertaste. Nice bourbon influence - subdued.
