Description
It started on Plaza Drive in New Albany, Indiana, with Sportstime Pizza in 1987 (now the NABC Pizzeria), followed by Rich O’s (NABC Public House) in 1990, the incorporation of the New Albanian Brewing Company in 1994 and the launch of the original New Albanian Brewery in 2002 (the first commercial brewery in New Albany since 1935). The Pizzeria & Public House are still going strong.

In New Albania, beer is a way of life. NABC stands for a quarter-century of experience, education, recognition and success. Not only that, but our machines kill fascists, too.

Now more than ever before, we ask: Can your beer do that?

Bottle. Yeasty wheat malt and earthy orange peel aroma. Golden yellow with giant head. Sweet creamy wheat malt and moderately bitter herbal orange peel flavor. Really like the malt in this - balanced nicely with the hops.

Draft. Strong honey and barley malt aroma. Amber with moderate long-lasting head. Sweet honey, barley malt, and lightly bitter herbal hops flavor. Low carbonation. A great beer - on the sweeter side - would love to have this one regularly.

Sampled at Ft Wayne RB tasting - Pours near black with a tan head. It has a very smoky aroma. The flavor is of roasted malt and is very smoky, reminiscent of smoked meats. The smoky, dark roast character lingers on the palate and makes the finish on the bitter side. Excellent beer.

Cask. Clear amber body with an off-white head. Aroma of toasted grain, raisin, candy and spice. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Peppery alcohol in the finish. Medium body, watery texture, moderate carbonation. Taste of bready yeast. Unfortunately, the alcohol and bitter hops gang up on the flavors. Light tastes of caramel and cream.

Bottle. Amber body with an off-white head. Aroma of spice, nutmeg, cinnamon, toasted grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. All the elements of a Christmas ale are here — the spices, the warming alcohol, the sweetness. They just aren’t working together. Raw grain taste trips over the forced spicing. The watery texture doesn’t help the spicing at all. And then there’s a vegetable taste in the finish.

Draft. Deep brown/cola body. Fizzy off-white head. Light aroma of roast and toasted grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Thin to medium body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation. A light lager with some roasted malt notes. If you dig deep enough, you can get a little nutty flavor and some caramel, but not much else.
