About
It started on Plaza Drive in New Albany, Indiana, with Sportstime Pizza in 1987 (now the NABC Pizzeria), followed by Rich O’s (NABC Public House) in 1990, the incorporation of the New Albanian Brewing Company in 1994 and the launch of the original New Albanian Brewery in 2002 (the first commercial brewery in New Albany since 1935). The Pizzeria & Public House are still going strong.

In New Albania, beer is a way of life. NABC stands for a quarter-century of experience, education, recognition and success. Not only that, but our machines kill fascists, too.

Now more than ever before, we ask: Can your beer do that?

22oz bottle pours an opaque, mahogany brown with some thin, creamy, off white head. Smells like it’s infected, cardboard, cashews, coffee, dust. Flavor is better, no infection noticeable in the mouth, chocolate, licorice, molasses, malt, brown sugar. Medium bodied, smooth finish.

Draft. Straw yellow body with a fizzy, short white head. Grassy aroma with notes of toasted grain, cookie, herbs and some floral notes. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderatelyy sweet. Medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. Clean and crisp with a hop bitterness that lingers. Taste of noble hops, lemon and sweet grass. Nicely nuanced. One of New Albanian’s best.

Bottle @ home, courtesy of drfabulous. A touch hazy, dark purple reddish appearance with a small tan head. A little dusty, rich red fruity, dark caramel, a touch boozy, a bit floral aroma. Dark caramel toffee, pretty thick floral/soapy hoppy, dark plum fruity flavor with a somewhat bitter, floral finish. A little hot but not bad.

This beer pours a hazy yellow-gold color with a thick white head that diminishes slowly. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of yeast, floral hops and malt. Medium body with a citrus and yeast character with notes of hops and caramel malt. The finish is a little thin with a sweet fruity yeast aftertaste. Above average overall.

Tap. Orange malt and pine/orange peel hops aroma. Golden yellow color with moderate head. Sweet orange malt and moderately strong orange peel hops/light pine hops flavor. Very nicely blended. Excellent - given NA’s usual great selection, this would be an easy one to overlook, but that would be a mistake.

Bomber. Black body with a short, tan head, rapidly diminishing. Smoked meat dominates the aroma — bacon, beef jerky, sausage. Hints of charred wood, ash, coffee and toasted grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. My first impression of the taste was of pine tar, but the beer mellowed as it warmed. Smoke, tobacco, char and ash dominate the flavor, but there are hints of dark fruits and toffee. Some bitter chocolate notes linger in the finish along with the ash. Enjoyable.
