Description
Crux is a crossroads, an intersection, the heart of something. In brewing it's that pivotal point where fermentation happens and anticipation mounts.

We’re Crux Fermentation Project— housed in a former AAMCO Transmission Plant and inspired by our location right in the heart of Bend, Oregon. Our brewery is a one-of-a-kind, built for non-traditional brewing methods like decoction mashing, open fermentation and barrel aging, and for leveraging the limitless possibilities that wild yeast strains and experimental hops present.

On tap at Brouwer's Cafe for Big Wood 2014, pours a hazy dark orangey amber with a small beige head. Aroma is unusual, with notes of whiskey, vomit, and sour fruits. Flavour is sweet and sour, with notes of tart fruits, brown sugar and toffee. A little weird, but very nicely balanced. Sweeter than most Oud Bruins, but very nice. Enjoyable stuff.

Draft pour at the brewery. Starting my walk around Bend, searching for good beer, and it didn’t take any time at all to find a gem. Pours a penny copper color with a short fizzy head. Sour apple like aroma. Really nice sour pear flavor up front with some nice herb like additions. Incredible beer to say the least. Finishes mellow and super easy to drink. What a beer this is! Loved it.
