Bottle, 7.5%. Sweet and sour, maizy aroma. Sourish flavour with high bitterness, not too pleasant. Nice smooth mouthfeel. Bad.

Bottle from Tesco. Pours a thick black oily liquid with a dark beige head. Intense amlt aroma. Coffee/choc with burnt dryness. Bit of powder. Very enjoyable. Thicker, maltier than other Guinness I have had. A certain lactic quality too. Quite nutty for some reason.

Picked up in Tesco Aylesbury 22-05-06 had this last night. Once again like the Funchal Maderian version I had this poured a very dark black colour but a darker chesnut coloured head on this one compared to the slightly lighter chesnut brown of the previous one. Once again this had a great roasted and slightly smokey flavour, with lovely bitterness a drier taste than the funchal version but this was equally good if not a little better. Stunning!

First ratingInitial Rating Date: 4/30/2006Bottle brought over from Leeds, England, by a friend of mine. Bought in a special beer shop in Leeds.Black color, pitch black. Huge brown lasting head. Mix of burnt and fruity scent. Big mouthfeel, mix of burnt and red wine like taste. Big bitterness, sour aftertaste.8/5/6/4/11=3.4RerateBottle from a PDA meeting, on January 2, 2016.Black color, brown head. Strange oak, acidic, sour, wood, chemical scent. Taste reminds me of the scent, also vinous, but more sour and charcoal. Unpleasant. Thin mouthfeel, strange high bitterness, astringentlike.I remember tating this all thos years ago and really not liking it, was very surprised to see I rated it at 3.4 still! Well this time I’m not.3/4/2/2/2=1.3

Bottled. Black opaque, big brown foamy head. Roasted malt and toffee in aroma. Sweetness and roasted malt in flavour. Aftertaste of old coffee and chocolate. The sweetness is kind of weird in beginning. Also a bit hoppiness in finish.

Opaque black, good creamy tanned head. Aroma is a bit sour and sweet (molasses, milk chocolate). Full-bodied. Sweet malty, familiar Guinness roast and very long bitter roasted aftertaste.

Bottle. Thick sweet molasses aroma - can really smell the sorghum. Dark as night with decent head. Sweet sorghum molasses flavor with a nutty flavor as well with high carbonation - slightly bitter finish. Really enjoyable.

A black beer with no head. The aroma is sweet with notes of roasted malt. The flavor is sweet, malty with strong roasted notes. An OK beer, but too sweet for my liking.

Dark brown with a thin head. Roasty, chocolatey and lightly toffeeish character. Very creamy body. Nice roast. Complex. Hint of tartness. Balanced. Good flavour.

Bottled. Very dark black. Fruity and grainy with loads of licorice. Salty, bitter finish. Has more depth than the regular Guinness Extra Stout. Made partly from sorghum.
