Description
The Brasserie des Cimes was created 20 years ago by an Irish-American, Michael Sweeney, who, seeing the rise of microbreweries in the United States, had the idea to implement the same scheme in France. He came to Savoie for the quality of the water. Michael Sweeney initially partnered with the Routin company, which carried the brewery for several years. In 2014, the company became fully independent.

Since its first beer brewed in June 1999, it has continued to develop its product offering. And its growth, which has been steadily increasing for several years. We hope to be able to make further progress, says Cindy Durchon, Executive Director. The Aix-based craft beer SME sold 32,000 hectoliters in 2018 and is targeting 34,000 hectoliters for 2019.

Bottled. (blue bottle) Almost clear, yellow-golden beer with a small white head. Citrus, yeast, spice and fruits in the aroma. Sour flavor with lots of lemon and orange. Some spice, barnyard and yeast as well. A bit thin and fizzy body. Lemony finish with some spices. Not the most successful wit I have tasted... (060809)

Lightly hazed gold with a thin white head. Light orange peels and coriander over the sweet candy sugar and honey. In mouth, a good surprising rich malt, with notes of honey, hops, coriander, rich, perfumey and smooth. At the Mondiale, June 2006.

330 ml blue bottle, bought in France. Hazy pale golden colour, large to small head. Pleasant aroma of coriander and citrus. Flavour is very citrussy (lemons) with moderate coriander notes, fruity sour more than sweet. Refreshing. Sourish dry and short finish. Okay.

Bottle. Beautiful blue bottle. But the beer lacks in appearance. It has no head and is a bit hazy. Fresh citrus taste dominates the flavor.

Bottle. Acidic, spicy aroma. Cloudy golden colour, small white head. Strange aroma. Very teaish, coriander flavour. Also quite citric. Drinkable, but strange.

Bottle. Vinous aroma, a little yeasty. Amber colour, very small head. Sweet and malty flavour. Bonbon aftertaste. Aroma and flavour have a slight sourness which does not quite balance it, but it begins to. Aftertaste gets quite yeasty as the beer warms.

Bottled (BBE 01/2007)
Clear amber color, small white head. Sour aroma with oak, malts and grapefruit. Woody hoppy, notes of caramel, sweetish malty backbone. Caramel and color puts this close to so called Bière de Garde -style, but is not so fruity than many pure examples of the style.

33cl bottle from Auchan, Calais. Attractive aroma. Golden colour with sediment in suspension. Good quality hop nose, some astringency. Having drunk a lot of French beer this last month or so, this is one of the better ones. I really like the hop aroma on this. Good in mouth with hoppy finish reminiscent of the flavours of an IIPA but far more subtle and far less in your face.
