Pours dark brown, almost black with a smooth head. Aroma of roasty malts, licorice, berries and toffee. Taste is smooth, malty and roasty with some berries and licorice. Finish is smooth, sweetish and grainy with some berries and malts. Too much berries here.

33cl, label says 7,9%. Kodiak IS. Black colored, thin off white head. Coffee, roastedness, tobacco in aroma. Flavor has coffee beans, roastedness, ashy notes. Dry finish. Pleasant.

Draught at Au Trappiste, Bern
Golden color, hazy. Intense aroma, quite fruity. Good body strength, delicate malt flavor, mellow, moderately sweet, strong bitterness with enough hop quality.

On tap at Erzbierschof. Brown color with hardly any head. Malty aroma, caramel. A bit of earthy hops, and just a hint of spiciness. Smooth. Okay, but a bit underwhelming for Storm & Anchor standards.EDIT: Had it from the bottle - Huge head, better appearance. much, *much* more hops there. Incredibly hoppy nose for a Barleywine. Lots of sweet fruity hops. Berries in the aftertaste. Very bitter! I like it better than the draft version! Even in a BA Barleywine, Tom manages to put a typical S&A hopping in... Crazy.

Beautiful black color with big beige head. Aroma is dry roasted malts, hoppy. Taste is stout-like, a bit coffee, not too full, hoppy, bitter. Not Imperial I’d say. More like a Black IPA or a slightly hoppy Stout. Not exactly my beer.

Bottle. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty caramel woody aroma. Roasted malty woody whisky and chocolate flavor. Has a roasted malty woody whisky and chocolate finish.

bought at Drinks of the World Zurich some time this summer. Tasted in July, have some notes left. Cloudy orange color with big head. Aroma is intense simcoe, which for me always has this super-concentrated peach/apricot juice aroma. Taste is fruity, but the bitterness takes over soon, and there’s a lot of bitterness in this one. The Swiss malt feeling is also in there, overall on the very bitter side, but interesting to see what loads of simcoe do with your beer.

had this one 3 times in 2014, every time from Erzbierschof. One of the bottles was infected. Dark amber color with big head. A bit of roasted malts, caramel, but also hoppy, with some fruits and yeastiness. Earthy and rich. I like red ales, and I like this one!

1pt 9oz bottle from Beers’n’more. This is labeled as a Saison due to the yeast that was used, but apart from the clear saison carbonation and texture I don’t feel much of that. As the name suggests, the Vic Secret hops dominates the taste of this beer, and not in a bad way: It’s fruity and bitter just as Vic Secret is.
