Flaska köpt på SB. Mörkt rödbrun grumlig vätska med ytterst liten skumkrona. Doftar karamell, fruktkaka, russin och mandel. Förvånansvärt lite sötma i smaken utifrån den sötma man känner i doften, bra. Spritsig kolsyra.

Flaska köpt på SB. Brungrå grumlig vätska med gräddfärgat skum. Doft av karamell, toffe och russin. Söt karamellig smak matchas med en stiltypisk beska. Medelfyllig munkänsla med en lätt antydan av alkohol.

50cl flip top bottle from a trade with Cunningham. Pours hazy dark amber with a small off-white head. Malty and caramelly aroma with hoppy notes, dried fruits, dark bread and hints of alcohol and spices. Sweet, malty and caramelly with a pretty mild bitterness. Bottled@omhper. Very deep ambery black colour with a small beige head. Aroma is liquorice, some floral notes as well as mild vanilla and ripe fruits. Flavour is ripe fruits, liquorice, wood and some mild alcohol.

Bottled@Man In The Moon, Stockholm. Hazy deep reddish brown colour with a small beige head. Aroma is ripe fruits, plum, some alcohol and mild toasted notes. Flavour is chocolate, some toasted notes along with some mild bitter notes. Pleasantly balanced. Quite an alternative Barley Wine, but there’s some darn nice thinking and a fine end product here.

Bottle bought through Systembolaget. Pours hazy blackish wooden brown with a small frothy and bubbly goldenish beige head that is rather quick to dissipate while leaving a small trace on the glass. Smell is malty, tannic and vinous with roasted malts, port wine, freshly chopped wood, toffee, caramel, vanilla fudge, moist soil, alcohol, hay, leather, dark roast coffee, high quality dark chocolate, sweet soy sauce, moist tobacco and hints of bourbon and roasted nuts. Taste is slightly sweet, bitter, tiny sour and malty with roasted malts, caramel, oatmeal cookies, vanilla fudge, alcohol, cocoa powder, bourbon, toffee, toasted cereal, cheap red wine, moist wood, soil, hay, roasted coconut, prunes, raisins and hints of lemon juice, leather and soy sauce. Mouthfeel is round soft, tiny roasted astringent, tiny tart, tiny boozy, tiny watery and medium bodied. Finish is bitter, tiny tart and malty with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, cocoa powder, oatmeal cookies, soy sauce, caramel, hay, moist wood, raisins, prunes and hints of lemon juice. Incredible nicely complex nose but it doesn’t get the support it need from the rest of the beers features. Taste isn’t quite intense enough and the mouthfeel is too tame to support the smell. Also there is a slight sour tartness that’s worrisome and if it’s a lingering infection I’m happy I opened my bottle fresh.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Almost black with a small light brown head. Aroma is sweet, malty, chocolate, a little cocoa and notes of vanilla. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet and roasted moderate bitter finish. 090813

Smak och doft av humle, malt, karamell med toner av apelsin, choklad och aprikos. Fruktig, jämn och len. Trevlig bitterchoklad- och citrusbeska.
