Description
Yet another game-changer in the history of Mikkeller, the opening of Baghaven marked the moment when – finally – spontaneously fermented sour beer was made using local terroir. Importing skilled American brewer Ehren Schmidt to head up operations at Baghaven helped establish the foundation for a location that would fuse tradition with cutting-edge innovation.

Bottle sample at Billie’s. Kisebb csalodas volt oszinten szolva, mind komplexitastat, mind az izet tekintve. Kellemes, de sokkal tobbet vartam.

Tap at Baghaven. Deep ruby pour with a white head. Nose is huuuge sour cherries, incredibly intense and inviting, and it’s combined with a fair amount of funk too. Taste is big sour cherry, some marzipan as well, lots of funk, a citric hint too, vague leathery notes. It’s juicy and dry at the same time with a medium to full body, drinks below the ABV. Outstanding.

Tap at Baghaven, koszi Csupi! Semi opaque golden pour with a white head. Nose is grains upfront, it’s spicy and bready, malty with an obvious funky touch and a surprisingly intense citrus character. Taste is quite similar, it’s spicy-grainy, the rye is kinda obvious but there’s other stuff as well I can’t put my hands on. The citrus character comes through here as well, so does the funk. It’s nicely layered and wuite complex, surprisingly fruity too. One of the most interesting no-adjunct sours I’ve had lately.
