On tap in a flight at the brewery. Pours a slightly hazy, yellow color, with a big, dense, white head that leaves lots of lacing. Light bready and earthy aromas, with some lemon and resin. Sweet and malty, with a light, acrid bitterness. Light body, thin, acidic, and crisp. Not bad.

On tap at the brewery, in a flight. Pours dark brown, with a big, frothy, tan head. The nose is light coffee, syrup, piney hops, and bitter chocolate. Sweet and weirdly medicinal. Light to medium body, with a thin, oily mouthfeel. This is an odd and unpleasant brown.

On tap at the brewery. Pours black, with a big, foamy, brown head. The aroma is heavy coffee, with a mild jalapeno kick. There's also some vanilla, caramel, and pine. Sweet and malty, with a good bitter balance. Only a lot spicy heat. Heavy body, with a thick, creamy, and oddly acidic mouthfeel. Solid.

[29 Feb 2016] Sampled at the Estes Park Winter Festival. Pours black, with some tan bubbles. Weak, burnt coffee, with some toasted caramel and pine sap. Sweet flavor, with an anemic, off bitterness. Light body, watery and a little acidic. Overall, this is an off-putting and unpleasant stout. I’m sure the format (sample pour from a pitcher) and how little time they had on their brew system factored into this; I hope to try this again, and hopefully it’ll redeem itself.
[1 Nov 2017] Retried, at the brewery, in a flight. Better, smoother aromas, but still has an off, medicinal bitterness. Heavier body, but still thin and weak. Not a great stout, but better than the last try.
