Description
The first mention of the prince's brewery at the castle in Racibórz on Ostrog dates back to 1567. And this date is taken as the date of establishment of the brewery, although in fact the brewery is certainly older because earlier in 1559 Karczma Zamkowa was founded and beer was probably delivered from the prince's brewery. In the 16th century, there were 155 beer houses in Racibórz, i.e. houses authorized for brewing. The first mention of brewing in Racibórz was found in a legal instruction from 1293 on the competences of councilors and lay judges in which it was mentioned that the council and lay judges determined the measures and prices of beer for taverners.
Raciborski Urbacz from 1567 recorded two brewers, Sicha and Mateusz, in the city. The number of strongholds during the year was quite large and amounted to around 500. The castle brewery had two vaulted beer depots in the castle's basement.
The brewery from the very beginning was a very large brewery for those times, as evidenced by the size of the Warka beer with 4130 liters. The golden times for the brewery began in the 18th century, during which time the brewery expanded significantly and supplied beer to taverns from the Liska and Czech territories.

bottle from eBrowarium. Brown with a beige head. Malty start with shy but good honey flavours, like pine tree honey, shy hoppy finish. Classic Polish honey lager, well executed.

bottle from eBrowarium. Golden with a mid-sized white head. Malty with grassy-resiny hops and a shy citrusy touch. The strength is well hiodeen, easy drinking and dangerously moreish. Classic Polish mocne. Not my favourite style but really well executed.

Thanks Matej J for sharing this with us. Clear, shiny green body. Wha? Greenish head. Yeasty aroma, honeyish, dry. Light honeyish taste, dry maltiness, very, very very light green apple touch, but pretty much a shitty macro lager. Useless gimmick.

Barwa złota, klarowne, piana dość skąpa, niezbyt trwała. W aromacie słodowe, lekko słodkawe, owocowe. W smaku dość wytrawne, słodowość, lekko słodkawe, nieco też chlebowe, owocowe, no i niestety lekki metal. Treści nieco brakuje, goryczka niska do średniej, średnie wysycenie, dobra pijalność. Przeciętne, choć daje radę wypić.

Bottle. Rocky head, stays quite long. Aroma is floral, some citrus. Medium bitterness. Carbonation too high. Not bad, but I didn’t like it much.

Barwa brunatna, klarowne, piana beżowa, dość obfita, ale niezbyt trwała. W aromacie karmel, opiekane słody, melanoidyny. W smaku słodowe, dość słodkie, chociaż niezbyt pełne jednocześnie, dochodzi leciutka kawa w smaku, do tego znowu karmel i nieco przypieczonej skórki. Goryczka, wysycenie i treść niska do średniej. Jest to coś pomiędzy koźlakiem a dunkelem, jest nawet niezłe, ale brakuje charakteru zdecydowanie i po ogrzaniu trochę czuć alkohol. I tak to jedno z lepszych piw z Raciborza.

Bottle. Green colour, rather disgusting tiny particles floating in the beer - in a lager? Aroma is malt, some grassy hops, some green apple. Light bitterness. Quite ok.
