The first mention of the prince's brewery at the castle in Racibórz on Ostrog dates back to 1567. And this date is taken as the date of establishment of the brewery, although in fact the brewery is certainly older because earlier in 1559 Karczma Zamkowa was founded and beer was probably delivered from the prince's brewery. In the 16th century, there were 155 beer houses in Racibórz, i.e. houses authorized for brewing. The first mention of brewing in Racibórz was found in a legal instruction from 1293 on the competences of councilors and lay judges in which it was mentioned that the council and lay judges determined the measures and prices of beer for taverners.
Raciborski Urbacz from 1567 recorded two brewers, Sicha and Mateusz, in the city. The number of strongholds during the year was quite large and amounted to around 500. The castle brewery had two vaulted beer depots in the castle's basement.
The brewery from the very beginning was a very large brewery for those times, as evidenced by the size of the Warka beer with 4130 liters. The golden times for the brewery began in the 18th century, during which time the brewery expanded significantly and supplied beer to taverns from the Liska and Czech territories.

Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass zippy, nice head. Starts mild, malty, more and more sweetish with hints of honey. Interesting. Finish with some grasy notes. Not bad.

6.8% ABV. Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass not too zippy, small head. Starts not as strong as exspected, malty dominated, modest spicy. Light sweetish background. Finish well balanced, sweet-malty. Okay.

Bottled at Celibar, Warsaw. Clear golden, small head. Grassy nose with tea and notes of butter. Mid sweet with light-medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Cellary hay, ripe fruit. Low-medium bitterness. Refreshing, if sweet.

Butelka 0,5 z datą ważności do 26.04.2014, temperatura degustacji 14 stopni +, szkło snifter. Aromat: przyjemny aromat ciemnych słodów, ciemne pieczywo, nuty czekoladowe z delikatnym diacetylem dają wrażenie kakao, zaraz po przelaniu wyczuwalne żelazo dosyć wyraźnie (po jakiejś chwili straciło na intensywności, i jakoś nie przeszkadza, mimo że jestem uczulony wyjątkowo na tą wadę), alk niewyczuwalny, pod koniec a sączyłem je ok.20min zaczęły pojawiać się nuty ciemnych przejrzałych owoców . Barwa: ładnie się prezentuje w szkle czarne jak smoła, nieprzejrzyste. Piana: beżowa, drobno pęcherzykowa, nalane z trochę z wymuszeniem więc piana na ok. 3-4cm (gdyby nie to była by niska), dosyć szybko opada do cienkiego pierścienia, leasing brak. Smak: zdecydowanie najmocniejsza strona tego trunku, jest słodki ale w granicach przyzwoitości, czekolada przeplata się z smakiem cherry(alk dobrze ukryty,wyczuwalny w delikatny przyjemny sposób) ,delikatnie palona średnio-wysoka goryczka która doskonale balansuje słodycz ściągając boki języka i pozostawiając zalegający posmak gorzkawo-popiołowy. Wysycenie niskie, pełnia średnia do wysokiej. Powiem szczerze że myślałem że będzie słabo a jest nawet przyzwoicie, zrobić coś z żelazem, później wysycenie i diacetyl (który najmniej mi przeszkadzał). Intensywność tych wad jest raczej na niskim poziomie i są do zaakceptowania, piło się całkiem przyjemnie, zaliczyłbym go do tych lepszych polskich porterów, bo jest kilka które mnie zmęczyły.

bottle from Browarium Sklepy Piwne. Clear golden with a fluffy white head. Malty and hoppy with a touch of honey and fruit. Bitter-sweet overall charcater. Smooth palate, pleasant carbonation. You can notice immediately that this beer had time enough to develop. Delicious classic Polish lager, far away from the mass-produced industrial swill.

Pure golden color. Low head. Some hops in aroma, but very low compared to what label says. Light scent of sulfur and wind. Low bitterness, moderate sweetness. Quite good palate. Rather smooth. Medium carbonation. Typical lager.
