Draft at Old Soul Design Shop. Very dark clear brown color, light beige head. Big huge earthy coffee aroma. Taste is burnt brownie ends dipped in espresso. Delicious

Draft at Old Soul Design Shop. More or less clear deep amber color, scant head. Aroma of lightly vinous caramel and subtle ginger. Taste is tannic, malt forward, subtle ginger, soft sourness. Somehow all this comes together pretty nicely

6.4/10 Appearance 8 Aroma 6 Flavor 6 Texture 8 Overall 5.5
Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was a mostly dark brown color close to black color with a thin white foamy head that quickly dissipated. Light speckled lace.
The aroma had a fairly nice roastiness to it. Resinous bitter, somewhat piney hops play with a slight herbal leafiness underneath.
The flavor seems to lean towards the herbal leafiness. Roastiness and resinous bitter qualities sit in the background a little bit more. Slight herbal leafy to semi-roasty aftertaste. Dry herbal to resinous finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body with a fair sessionability about it. Decent carbonation. ABV felt fine.
Overall, interesting porter with that herbal leafiness coming in all around. Not sure if I would have again, pretty different if anything.

6.9/10 Appearance 8 Aroma 6 Flavor 6 Texture 8 Overall 7.5
Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a nice looking semi-dark red color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a nice level pace. Sly messy lace.
The aroma had some roasted nuts, earthy tones and a light caramel backbone.
The flavor had the roasty and earthy tones in front of a light buttery caramel-ish maltiness. Buttery, but clean and not necessarily diacetyl, which is good. Is that intentional? I’m not sure. Lean sort of semi-sweet caramel malty to earthy aftertaste. Sly crisp wet sweet crackery caramel finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. Moderate carbonation. ABV felt appropriate.
Overall, decent amber ale that I could have again. I didn’t mind that butteriness, I want to say it seemed intentional. Wouldn’t mind meeting the brewer to find out for sure.
