Description
Established in 1913, Ölgerðin is the Icelandic word for 'brewery', and, as the name suggests, brewing was the company’s main focus from the start. The brewery is named for Egill Skallagrímsson, a Viking Age poet.

Can. A deep red beer with no head. The aroma is sweet and very malty with notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of both straw and caramel.

50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden yellow with a white head. Light malty aroma. Mild sweet towards cornish. Slight fresh hoppy accent. Ends sweet and slight bitter.

(Can 50 cl) Clear, reddish brown with a beige head. Sweet, buttery aroma. Thin and watery, a little low in carbonation. Extremely sweet notes of roasted malt and burned caramel, very, very sugary. Absolutely no bitterness. Yeah, lots of Christmas gnomes on my can also. 110108

50 cL can, x-mas version. Pours dark brown with a reddish hue and a fully diminished off-white head. Sweet raisin malt aroma. Flavour is sweet malty, fully like a danish hvidtøl, slight raisin flavoured fruity.
