Bottle, one of the, perhaps the ? first bomber I see by a Belgian Brewery. Pours rather unclear amber. OK white head. Smell is aromatic malty, some saison yeast, a tad more sweet than the average saison. Taste is surprisingly bitter, folowed by a crisp, ambermalty body, and very mild spice ( trough the saison yeast, I assume ) at the end. Rather high carbo, ok mouthfeel. Very decent.

Wheat beer from a micro brewery (and beershop) in Wallonia which has recently gone official. Draught at Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Thick, frothy, tightly cobweb-lacing, snow white head over a pure and warm yellow golden beer with vivid fizz, lightly hazy. Aroma of lemon grass, passion fruit, lemon-scented soap, raw ’witloof’ or even iceberg salad, freshly grated ginger, dough, soap, warm biscuit, ripe pear, lemon candy and - alas - a sulfuric touch of DMS. Fruity onset, very apple-ish, hints of banana ester and pineapple, green berry-like sourishness balancing out the sweetness but also accentuated by sharp and minerally overcarbonation; lightly bready and bit grainy middle, working towards a bitterish finish, grassy and herbal, a bit green tea-like even; banana ester and wheat slickness get the last word. Clearly different from the familiar Hoegaarden witbier standard, more tilted towards Anglo-Saxon wheat ales even, with no obnoxious coriander but something refreshingly lemony instead. Too bad for the DMS but it remained subtle so I enjoyed this, after all.

Draft glass @ Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Dark amber orange, burned sugar look with a big tanned head. Nose is very sweet cough syrup sugar, malt, sugar, caramel, burned malt, herbal syrup, pure sugar syrup. Taste is massively sweet herbal cough syrup, candied apple, toffee, boozy, extremely sweet even for a Belgian beer, candy, candied pear. Bit too cough syrup but potent interesting, thick massively sweet brew, what Whiskey did they use? Body is boozy thick sugar cough syrup malt. Heavy, bit overkill but good & pleasant for me actually unlike their "L’Été Indien" + "Jours de Récolte 2016" which I tried earlier that day.

Bottle sample @ Vini Birre Ribelli ’16. Trouble brune, col fin blanc.

at vbr. Pours rather unclear dark amber. Good white head. Smell is a bit weak. Taste is crispy, cornflakes pop in mind. Aftertaste is pure and intense roasty peanuts. Once you taste it, you taste only these peanuts ! this is really interesting, and nice! I quite love this beer, even if only for the aftertaste. Not an IPA though (to me )

Bottle sample @ Vine Birre Ribelli ’16.
