Cask at Lord Burton, Burton-on-Trent. Pours a murky dark brown with minimal cream head. There’s malts and caramel in the aroma, plus some hints of chocolate. In the mouth it is briefly sweet and creamy (if somewhat watery) sour fruitiness swamps it all. Some traces of malts, caramel and blackcurrant can be detected, but overall I think this beer had gone off. REQUIRES A RERATE.

Cask at Tap at No 76, Ashby-de-la-Zouch - misty brown body, no head. Strong bitter tang to this, citrus notes, piney kick at the end.

24/8/2023. Cask at the 44th Peterborough Beer Festival. Pours slightly hazy pale golden orange with a small bubbly off-white head. Aroma of orange, straw, caramel, mucky notes. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness, tart edge. Moderate body, slightly watery, soft carbonation. Not a fan.

24/8/2023. Cask at the 44th Peterborough Beer Festival. Pours hazy/cloudy orange gold with a small bubbly white head. Aroma of orange, marmalade, hops, straw, husky edge. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness and body. Slightly oily, soft carbonation. Quite okay.

Cask at the Pup and Duckling, Solihull. Poured a clear golden colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is yeasty malt. The flavour is moderate to light bitter, with a smooth, yeasty, herbal, light floral woody hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation.
