Dark amber color - very dense, sweet, strong beer, but represents the style well - very deep notes of dark bread (pumpernickel, rye), toffee, and dark fruit (raisin, fig), as well as bread pudding (treacle) and a hop bitterness that keeps the sweetness from becoming cloying - the alcohol is a bit too present in the finish, but otherwise a strong showing.

Tap at the brewery - clear light gold - nose is strong dry limestone/mineral, light wheat, moderate smoke, and mild saltiness/brine - flavor is much the same - one-dimensional sourness, moderate salt, and moderate smoked wheat - fairly simple, lacking the complexity of better examples of the style - I love anything smoked, though, so I can’t rate it too low.

Lightly hazy amber - aroma and flavor are intensely citric and strongly bitter - there is some sticky caramel malt sweetness as well as some toasty maltiness throughout, but the dominant flavor is the citrus character and strong bitterness a this character, along with the fairly sticky malts, cover up whatever character is imparted by the yeast, so this really comes across more like a hoppy amber ale - still a decent brew.

Nitro at the brewery - entered as an amber because it kind of defies classification and most closely resembles that "style" - nose is very bready, with some toasty character and very mild Belgian yeast phenols - creamy texture - flavors of toasted bread, leafy bitterness, caramel - not Belgian character noticed in the flavor - decent, quaffable brew.

Tap at the brewery - clear gold with a frothy lace - nose of crisp, clean pils malt, moderate mineral, floral and grassy hops - flavor is crisp, medium sweet, with a strong mineral bite and fairly high hop bitterness - grassy and floral noble hops dominate - frothy mouthfeel - sadly, there is a mild huskiness in the finish that diminishes the enjoyment slightly, but overall this is a pretty solid pils.

It’s a clear, golden beer topped by a small off-white head. The aroma is faintly sour, with toffee and berries. Some alcohol too. Grass notes as well. It’s full-bodied and quite dry, with a pleasant carbonation. Berry notes, toffee, hay and grass in the flavor, as well as a fine bitterness stretching far into the end. OVerall, nothing impressive, but quite tasteful anyway. 131122
