Become a Brewver Supporter
Brewver has always been — and will continue to be — free for everyone.
However, Brewver depends on generous contributions from its users in order to keep the lights on.
Why Support?
Brewver is built and maintained by a small team with a passion for beer and a love for building great tools for the community. Every tick, every review, every stat - it's all made possible by countless hours of work, and by the servers and systems that keep the site online.
As Brewver grows, so do the costs to host and maintain the website. By becoming a Supporter, you're helping to:
- ✅ Cover ongoing hosting and infrastructure costs
- ⚡ Improve site performance and reliability
- 🔧 Fund future improvements and new features
- 💙 Keep Brewver independent and ad-free
What Do Supporters Get?
We want to keep Brewver fair and open to everyone. The Supporter tier is not about putting up a paywall - it's about appreciation, with a few little extras thrown in as thanks.
- 📊 Extra stats and insights on your beer journey
- ⭐ A shiny Supporter badge on your profile
- 💬 Early access to new features and feedback channels
- 🙌 The satisfaction of helping Brewver thrive
More perks will be added over time - but the core value is helping the community grow stronger.
How Much Does It Cost?
Supporter access is just €29.99 per year - that's less than the price of a few good beers!
Your contribution directly supports Brewver's hosting, development, and ongoing improvements. No ads. No corporate backing. Just a community-powered platform built for beer lovers, by beer lovers.
Cheers,
The Brewver Team 🍻
FAQ
Who owns Brewver? Who exactly receives the money?
Brewver is registered in Germany as a small business (Kleinunternehmen), details of which are available on the Legal Note page linked in the footer of the website.
Why does Brewver need money?
Brewver has no employees and is a project run by volunteers who share the same passion for beer. Like every website we have bills to pay (multiple servers are needed to keep things running smoothly). We don't run ads on Brewver - and we don't want to! Supporters are therefore our only source of revenue.
How will Brewver spend the money?
We want to expand. Brewver is currently running on a minimalistic server setup. To maintain professionalism we need redundancy, proper developement areas, and more. We won't pay the volunteers a salary, but if there is enough money left, a Christmas beer package for the developers might be an option.
How were Brewver bills paid before the Supporter status existed?
During the last few years, bills were contributed to by a handful of generous admins.
Does Brewver handle my financial details?
No. Brewver uses a payment processor called Stripe, used by millions of companies around the world. Stripe securely handles everything from collecting your address and credit/debit card details, processing the payment, invoicing, and storing your details safely. Brewver will never be able to see your card details.
More information about Stripe can be found on their website.
What will change for non-Supporters?
Almost everything will stay as it is. As long as we have enough Supporters we won't add ads to Brewver. The option to export your ratings will stay available for everybody. Also, all stats that are currently existing will be viewable for everybody. That might not be the case for stats we implement in the future.
The only existing feature that will be restricted is imports. Our database has to handle a high workload with every import which, as of now, can affect the availability for other users to rate or edit beers. We are still welcoming new users and will still give them the option to import their ratings, however we will limit it to the following:
- After a new user has uploaded a file a one month period starts.
- During this period the user can import all of their ratings.
- After one month, the import will be deactivated for non-Supporters.
How much of the €29.99 does Brewver actually get? Is the tax included?
Tax is included in the payment. Brewver is registered in Germany as "Kleinunternehmen" (literally: "small business"). We don't have to pay taxes in Germany until income exceeds €12,500. We do pay a small fee to Stripe who handles the payments for us, and this is variable depending on the country the purchase is being made. Roughly speaking, €29 is the actual amount that Brewver receives after fees.
Will supporters have additional rights to edit or verify beers/breweries/venues?
No. In case your account is restricted it'll stay so even if you are a Supporter.
How long is the Supporter status valid?
Upon purchase you are entitled to one (1) year of Supporter status.
Is this a subscription with an automatic renewal?
Supporter status does NOT automatically renew. If you wish to continue your Supporter status you will need to purchase it again after your year is up.
I have problems with the payment, who can help me?
Kindly write an email to support@brewver.com.
I don't want to be a Supporter anymore, how can I cancel my subscription?
Kindly write an email to support@brewver.com. But please note that there is no automatic renewal after one year, so you don't need to worry about payments being taken without your knowledge. If you wish to forfeit your Supporter status immediately, we can remove it, but we cannot offer any refunds.
What types of payments/cards can be used?
Payments are handled by Stripe, a global payment processor that has a large array of accepted payment options. Please check Stripe's documentation directly for full details.
