RateBeer member 2009-2025, the latest years as admin. The BIG thing for me now is Brewver! I only rate venues, a (silly?) decision from back in 2009. But, don't worry, I drink a lot of beer too. 9K Norwegian beers in February 2026 and a total of 21K in February 2026. Cheers!

My final destination this day, and I was really looking forward to this visit. I was not disappointed! Super friendly service, nice dinner, good beer selection and accommodation at a resonable price. Three beers on tap and six bottles from the house brewery Bar Bakke. Also a can from Innestua. A great place for a beer geek. It was me and three other guests and I was the only one drinking beer. There are not many rooms and the others were worker commuters, staying here for longer periods. They got up very early next morning so I was alone for breakfast. Be aware; this is not a regular bar and restaurant with regular opening times. Best time to visit is early in the evening when the guests are served dinner. The super friendly host said she would leave at nine o`clock in the evening. I had to order and pay for all bottles I still had left to try. Not a problem for me! I had done the draught beers, so I ordered the last bottles from the fridge. Some will say the hotel room was not up to date and rather simple 1982-look. Well, it was clean and spacious and fine for me. Very homely atmosphere here at Hammerstuene. Service and beer are the great things here. (Visited July 13rd 2026)

A microbrewery at a farm. The barn is now a brewery and also has a bar that is not open regulary. This is like homebrewing going big! I had made an appointment, since there are no regular opening times. Very friendly service. The brewer only had one beer to offer. His beers are popular and brewing is just a hobby, so far. Beers from Innestua are not available in local stores but in some cafes and at Hammerstuene where I had booked a room. (Visited July 13rd 2026)

An ordinary Vinmonopolet bottle shop. One thing of interest, you will find bottles from the nearby cidery Tingvoll Sider. I found a new one; Gammel-Nesje. (Visited July 13rd 2026)

Vågå is a small town and the local Vinmonopolet also has a limited beer selection. But, you can find three bottles from the nearby brewery Lom. These stronger ones are not very common to find outside this region. The store is located beside Coop Extra grocery store. Free parking outside. I also Visited the church from 1625 just across the street. (Visited July 13rd 2026)

Looking for beers from Øylund Bryggeri? This grocery store is THE place to visit! You can make an appointment and purchase beer directly from the brewery, but it is located in a private home and the brewer has a full-time job alongside brewing. He is not always at home and this week he was sold out too. He recommended Joker Vaset, they «always» have cans from Øylund. It is a short detour uphill to Vaset, a cabin and ski area with a grocery store with great beer selection. Six from Øylund and decent selection from other craft breweries too. (Små Vesen, Lom, K.Aa.B, Voss Fellesbryggeri, Nøisom, Trollbryggeriet, Kinn, Røros, HaandBryggeriet, Hogna, Austmann, 7 Fjell, Disko, Oslo Brewing Co, Ægir, En Liten Øl, Nøgne Ø, Lervig and all the usual suspects among Norwegian macro breweries) A must visit if you Are in the area or seeking beers from Øylund. This rakfisk producer (Rakfisk=fermentet trout) is the nearest neighbor to Små Vesen brewery. Here you can find all bottles up to 4.7% in refridgerators. Very convenient if the brewery nearby is closed. Very nice farm shop and scenery outside. Worth a visit and I recommend to try rakfisk once in a lifetime, at least! (Visited July 13rd 2026)
