Half of a quart can, courtesy of S.H.I.G., pours with a dark mahogany colored body that supports a nice tan head of foam. The aroma offers up a blend of sticky smelling pine hops and some molasses like reduced sugars. The flavor delights with firm bitter pine sap hoppiness swimming around in a vat of sweet malts with a sense of molasses and a dash of caramel. Toward the finish the bitter pine hop goodness does not let up but rather starts to settle in for a deep flavor experience. This is right up my alley as it has facets of old school American Barleywine but achieves a bit more depth with the malt bill.

Panda, courtesy of SaltyGrog, pours with a clear copper to gold colored body that supports a dirty white head of foam. The aroma offers up tangelo, grapefruit, a bit of apricot and then orange wedges. The taste delivers a firm mouth feel that's dominated by citrus like fruity hops. I get a ragged blend of tangelo, clementine and then some brown sugar dusted orange wedges. It's a little grapefruit like hop bitterness as well as softer sweeter fruit notes and then it dries out some into the finish. Overall this comes across a bit ragged.

Panda, courtesy of SaltyGrog, pours with a mahogany colored body that supports a nice tan head of foam. The aroma offers up a bit of musty hot plums and dates and then kind of mineral like as well as a hit of marzipan near the end of the draw. The taste delivers some odd mustiness that's floral and berry like and then getting into a pleasing molasses like sweetness. Toward the finish it's like sweet slightly earthy dates meet up with a mineral sensation creating an unexpected finish and experience. Not your grandma's Baltic Porter.
