Nice red ale, lots of caramel and toast and a touch of apple and wort, followed by a gentle bitterness and a touch of yeast on the back end. Not bad.

Gonna be honest: I likely couldn’t tell the difference between most of these Burial west coast IPAs, but they’re all consistently very good. Like no matter what the hop makeup/ratio is, they always check all the boxes for what I want in an IPA. No haze, very little sweetness, some juice and pine and a good bitter finish. Another Burial WCIPA, ctrl+C, ctrl+V and I’m a happy guy.

Good, if a tad sweet. Notes of cracker, fresh corn, and a touch of lemon, followed by a briny back end that offsets the sweetness. Finishes with a modest floral bitterness. Not bad.

Bourbon County Brand Stout - Double Barrel Heaven Hill (2025) from Goose Island Beer Company

Sweet and rich and dripping with bourbon, gooey notes of milk chocolate, anise, molasses, dark roast coffee, and a charred, roasted bitterness. Finishes with tons of whiskey and oak. Delicious.

Pretty damn fine modern WCIPA, offering up new-school juicy/fruity hop notes while offsetting them with a formidable piney bitterness and just enough caramel and grainy hop sweetness. Delicious.

Solid NEIPA, juicy without being unbearably sweet, bright notes of papaya, grapefruit, peach, citrus zest, and a touch of pine. I so dearly wish it amped up the pine; might be a great IPA then. As is: good!
