Bottle at home having won it in the village pub quiz. We came third as we lost the tie break on the height of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Anyway, I digress. The hops really rip across the taste buds and that is something I like a lot! Tring really know how to make a beer. Drunk and thoroughly enjoyed in the garden.

Pint of gravity cask in my local for the monthly quiz night. Ok, cards on the table. This is one of the best beers I've ever had. Perfect condition and all the better for the gravity. This is a top English DIPA and I honestly don't care if anyone disagrees. Huge rich and bitter hops that swamped the palate and lingered long on the tastebuds and the memory. Big hit of alcohol that balanced out those huge and rich hops. This is English craft brewing. It doesn't ape the USA, but is a true reflection of English brewing. So near to being a 10, but to achieve that it has to have some sort of psychological impact on me.

Pint of cask in my village local. An eminently drinkable pint as the first of the monthly quiz night. Which we won. This is a very reasonable beer. Nothing special though.

Second can of the evening while preparing dinner. The pour meant it looked like sludge in the glass and really rather unpleasant. Sweet aroma and taste, but it was the texture I found unpleasant. Thick and gloopy and really rather vile. I know we all like things in a different way but to me this was unpleasant. An immediate drain pour and so not worth the units. I moved on to a bottle of Barolo.

Can at home after a very busy Saturday. Left with 2 daughters so we decided to have a party night of steak, wedges and then watch Project Hail Mary. This was the beer to drink while preparing the food. Spiky, craft IPA. I wouldn't classify it as a session beer. Hit the spot, but the astringency meant I would only have the 1. Hence why its not a session beer.

Can from Copenhagen Airport and drunk at home. Strong caramel malts on the nose and a really sweet taste with a closing mouthfeel. Not my thing at all. Not worth the units and down the drain.

Bottle at home liberated from my Mother's house. Well chilled as its a crazily hot day, but it meant the sediment got stirred up. Oh well and anyway. Good bitter hops, bit of farmyard (which is always a favourite) and really smooth. Probably would have been better at the correct temperature, but not today. Anyway, back to the Lady's singles final.

I do like Siren and I did so want to really like this. But its got a weird cloying sweetness to it that I just don't dig. Great pour and colour, but the taste ain't great.

Can from Copenhagen Airport and it wasn't great. More akin to a barley wine and completely full of crud. It ended as a drain pour.
