Cheeky pint in the pub next to the station while waiting for my lift. Looks good in the glass but no flavour or mouthfeel. Nothing. Once again the brewery fails to deliver.

Found this in the Brewdog bar in Clerkenwell. Good pour and a taste that just reminded me of Old Peculier, but just not as good. It was almost a bit watery.

Half at the Holy Tavern in Clerkenwell. This was a good way in to an All in pub tour so its a bit hazy. A reasonable pale with a touch of spice. Not bad.

Can at home to celebrate not doing Dry January. What's the point? Life is there to be enjoyed and good beer is part of that enjoyment. And this is really good beer. Huge, rich and bitter pine, but really well balanced. This is my type of DIPA. Rich, bitter and not some fruit smoothie.

Bottle at home from Waitrose with money off. Result! It's Christmas Eve and this brings an end to my homemade advent calendar. And it's a great one to end on, before the frontal assault of claret and vintage port tomorrow on the Big Day. It's been a good year for beer and life in general and watching the family and dogs lolling in the lounge round the fire gives me a certain glow. Anyway, this is an exceptional beer and very well balanced. Rich and sweet malts, with bitter hops and a welcome woodiness that I love.

Amazing pour that looked like a rich stout. The taste was like a party in my mouth with everyone invited. Malt, hops, liquorice and as my friend said, sasparilla. A really good beet, but I couldn't manage more than one as it was a bit too much.

This quickly followed the previous beer and it wasn't as good. Lots of richness and I just craved a few more hops.

Part of my home made no surprise advent calendar. Perfect pour - but because I totally messed up the 2024 last night and wasn't got to repeat that. I've had a bloody busy day of dog walking, gardening and car washing and I'm knackered. And I've been looking forward to this all day. And it doesn't disappoint. This is a classic souped up English bitter. Rich malt, bitter hops and a big hit of alcohol. And it tastes young. Cellar this properly and it will only improve over the next few years. There is a residual malt sweetness that comes out as it develops. And I'm not keen on sweet. It meant that I had to review my scoring. It's good though.
