I forget how good this brewery can be. Final clear out before the December frontal assault and I can't believe I've never rated this. Used to love it and buy loads. This is a rich and gently bitter proper ipa in the English style. None of your sweet fruit here, apart from perhaps a deep and rich note of plums. Slightly stewed. Lovely

Bottle from Beer Shop Hitchin. Persuaded by my brother to start my home built beer advent calendar tonight because apparently the 31st is the start of advent. Who knew? Anyway, this isn't part of the official calendar, but its a good place to start. Great colour and this is all about the rich malts. Maybe a bit too cold from the garage, I mean cellar, but as ever with this brewery its really good.

Bottle from Asda in Luton of all places. Still trying to clear out stocks before the excesses of December and this one had to go. Good pour, fruity aroma, but the taste is something different. Its fruity, really fruity. Not hops fruity, but peaches and nectarines- real fruit. Not fake or flavouring but real fruit. It was actually pretty good, particularly as I normally despise fruit beers. And really well balanced .

Can I think from Sainsbury's. Good pour and an amazing and huge hoppy nose. Loads going on on the palate and a slight but not unpleasant farmyard taste. All very good.

Wow. Just wow. This is Porter as it should be. Big malt, bitter hops and (weirdly) a really meaty flavour. And I'm not complaining. This is not one for your sweet chasing fruity hop people. This is one for people who like good and traditional beers and if thats you then you will not be disappointed. I do think this will improve over the next few years.

There are murky DIPAs and then there is this stuff. I swear you need a spoon to finish this. The hops were everywhere, in fact they almost took the roof off my mouth. It's a good beer, but too much! At least I was eating pizza alongside it and that calmed things down.

Not had a beer for a few days and I need to get back into the saddle for tomorrow. A good friend is joining us for lunch and I think the wheels could come off. Anyway, this really isn't great. Not much flavour, but I am still recovering from a cold. Not great to look at either.

Murky pour with a vast quantity of sediment. The taste is deep and rich and lots of malt. You know what, this ain't half bad! Maybe some hops would have been nice to try and create some balance? Anyway, not one to seek out again, but perfectly pleasant.

Didn't realise this was a fruit beer. Bloody horrible and a drain pour. Yuck!
