Grew up in England and developed a taste for English ales. Traveled a lot to Belgium and surrounding countries and grew to appreciate these European styles. Traveled to USA a fair bit, starting in the dark days when it was a beer desert, and then enjoying the flourishing microbrewery scene. Moved in 1994 to Australia which was then a beer desert, so grew to appreciate the excellent Aussie wines and my own homebrew. Now there is a flourishing microbrewery scene in Aus, which is great. I travel a lot to Asia, which was generally grim for beer, although with some interesting pockets of excellence there if you looked hard; but now several countries have good craft beers. I was a RateBeerian for 18 years (Oct 2007 until its demise in 2025), with username Pyobon.

(Can) Pours black with a big dense tan head. Good aroma dominated by roast grain with chocolate hints. Smooth medium body with plenty of soft carbonation. Taste is dark roast malt with chocolate notes. Very drinkable.

(Can) Pours opaque pale golden yellow with small white head. Great aroma of tropical fruit with dank herbal notes. Medium body with fine carbonation. Good taste too, and follows the aroma. Very juicy with some nice hoppy bitterness. Very enjoyable.

(Can) Pours hazy golden amber with small white head. Lovely juicy aroma - tropical fruit with herb notes. Medium bodied with plenty of fine carbonation. Fresh and juicy start. Some caramel malt sweetness in the middle and some gentle herbal hoppy bitterness in the finish. Very good.

(Can) Pours clear amber brown with short-lived pale tan head. Pleasant Maroma, mainly caramel with hints of toast and herbs. Medium body with fine carbonation. Good taste. Again, mainly caramel. A little citrus at the start. Some notes of toast in the middle. Herbal notes then develop. Some modest bitterness in finish. Pleasant drinking.

(Can) Pours clear golden amber with small white head. Lovely aroma of orange and pine with hints of toffee. Medium body and well carbonated. Good tasting beer with nice balance. Orangey citrus start. Toffee malt backbone. Pleasant hoppy bitterness. All works together nice. Very good.
