Christmas is exactly a week away so I’m cracking of the two Christmas releases from Vertere.

Vertere Christmas Beer 2025
Grisette w Honey Basil 4.5%

It’s a lovely matte gold with thick eggshell white foam which doesn’t last all that long. The aroma is a sulfury saison. It’s medium bodied with a lightly spritzy carbonation.

Honestly at first, I found it a bit humdrum but it grew on me and by the end I could really get the basil and saison notes.

Pretty good.

I believe this is the second KBC x JRA (Japan Racing Association) collaboration. The JRA also does collaborations with WCB I believe.

KBC x JRA Hero of a Hundred Races
Cold IPA 6.5%

Matte honey gold with fizzy off-white foam and a pithy citrus rind aroma that seems like a sweeter version of grapefruit. Surprisingly full bodied with prickly carbonation and a slightly boozy finish. It feels like a bigger beer than 6.5% The flavor is bitter citrus and sweet tutti-frutti notes.

Solid beer.

In my early days of craft beer I was into Brewdog so I picked up this glass in Stockholm but after all the stories came out, not so much.

I got this beer out of a sense of nostalgia…

Brewdog x Liquor Mountain Session IPA 4.5%

Crystal clear gold with dense white foam that’s pretty thick. Nice fruity soapy aroma. Light bodied and dry. The taste has soda bread light malty notes with bitter soapy fruity flavors. The taste really reminds me of that purple gum I sometimes got at Halloween - I think it was called Thrills.

Apparently it’s brewed at Karuizawa Brewery…

KBC Enhanced Project: Sokarion
Juicy DIPA 8%

This is the latest and dare I say greatest release in this series. Great hop bouquet with prickly pear, coconut and tropical fruit punch with a woodsy bitter twist. Full bodied with a raspy carbonation.

Excellent.
