One of the larger cider houses in this area, and as such one of the few that have a dedicated shop, situated opposite the restaurant. Judging by the tour minibuses parked outside this is very much geared towards large groups. Selection is great with some limited edition single varietal, more expensive brut plus some easy-drinking cans, as well as their own apple juice. Girl serving seemed a bit fed up, insisting on talking to me in Basque knowing it's a language no one outside the region understands. The restaurant opposite is very much that and the concept of drinking cider by itself somewhat foreign. Still, we were happy with what we got from the shop.

75cl bottle shared with Soph at our eco cabin in Sorges, Dordogne. Pours a clear gold, good effervescence. Pleasing brut, a little dry, gentle medium sweet fruit with some bitter core coming through. Can tell that it lacks the depth and character of cider apples, but pleasant overall.

Primarily a restaurant, we were a little naive in thinking we could just roll up, order some cider with maybe a light bite on the side. On sitting at a table and attempting to order one food item, the waitress informed us we had to order at least 4 items from the menu including a 40 euro meat plate to share. I asked what cider they had, which was met with utter confusion and frustration, the food items aggressively pointed at again. We noticed cider and bread was 7.50 and asked how much cider, as we only wanted a small glass. The large pint-sized glass on the table was pointed at: "unlimited, drink what you want - one glass, four glasses, what you want". We realised fairly quickly that here, it was all about large groups eating lots, drinking lots and sticking around a while. Seems they had no time for people like us who didn't understand the rules, so we left. A real shame. No opportunity to buy cider to take out either.

75cl bottle from Carrefour Sarlat, shared with Soph in the old town on a really hot afternoon. Drunk from the bottle. Pleasant high carb Doux.. nice fruity flourishes whilst remaining quite straightforward. Not bad.
