330ml bottle from Monoprix, Versailles. Misty golden amber pour with a large white head. A disappointing saison, given such a fancy bottle. Tired malt, no saison yeast, no sweetness, just a very boring beer that bears no resemblance to a saison at all.

Lively bar along the cobbled streets of the old town, a short walk from the chateau itself. Seats around barrels outside, multi-level space inside although I didn't venture further than the ground floor. Around 8-10 taps with beers from O-Clock, Debauche and a few other French independents, handful of bottles in the fridge including some barrel-aged imperial stouts, some Belgian such as Chouffe and Pecheresse. Prices seemed high. We found a cozy spot at the back on comfy seats to reflect on the day. Music quite loud and a bit imposing on conversation. Other than that it's a nice little bar in Versailles.

Draught @ Le Baradoz, Versailles after walking around the Chateau and gardens. Pours black, good beige head. Welcoming nose suggesting a layered malt depth which presents itself to taste, great malt character with a great hoppy side providing a nice counterpoint to the soft roast and coffee. Really good, satisfying india-style stout.

330ml bottle from Monoprix Versailles. Unclear gold appearance, meagre amount of bubbles atop. Serviceable pale.. just enough orangey hop notes, a touch slick, modest bitterness. Ok.

75cl bottle @ our hotel in Versailles. Pours clear gold, moderate fine carbonation. Aroma of lightly stewed apple fruit, apple flesh. Continues to taste with a nice caramelised tone, moderately sweet, a touch syrupy. Great doux overall.
