0.75 l bottle from 'Bergmann Stehbierhalle', bottle #60/100, best before August 2026. Very dark ruby to black with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently vinous-fruity and a bit roasty aroma of caramel, red wine, some vanilla and light chocolate. Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter, slightly roasty and gently vinous-fruity taste of caramel, chocolate, toasted hazelnut, red wine, some vanilla and hints of red berries, followed by a medium long, gently roasty-bitter, a little woody finish. Medium to full body, minimally astringent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. What a weird idea to wax a swing top bottle, took me at least ten minutes to open it. Anyway, quite a solid brew, very pleasant to drink, really well-balanced. The wine barrel adds complexity and a light but refreshing wooden note to it. Very enjoyable overall.

0.375 l bottle from 'Craftbeers', blend n°31 • 20|21, bottled in March 2021. Hazy, deep golden orange with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Slightly sweetish, sourish, rather fruity, gently funky and slightly vinous aroma of overripe lemon, leather, oak, horse blanket, gooseberry, apple, some hay and hints of white pepper. Minimally sweetish, gently sour, rather fruity, gently funky and a bit vinous taste of overripe lemon, leather, oak, hay, horse blanket, gooseberry and some apple, followed by a medium long, quite tart, rather woody-dry, a bit minerally finish. Medium body, quite astringent and fairly effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Very elegant, sophisticated and superbly balanced Geuze.

0.44 l can from 'Craftbeers', canned in May 2025. Pitch black with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Intensely sweetish-malty, quite roasty and a little fruity aroma of dark chocolate, mocha, whisky roasted hazelnut and traces of rum. Quite sweet, malty, fairly roasty, a little fruity taste of dark chocolate, mocha, roasted hazelnut, licorice, whisky, cognac and light rum, followed by a long, fairly roasty-bitter, slightly warming, minimally woody finish. Full body, smooth and slightly oily mouthfeel, very soft carbonation. Very solid base beer with subtle but rather nuanced barrel-aging. Great brew!

0.375 l bottle from 'Craftbeers', batch #3, 2024 vintage. Slow gusher. Hazy, dark reddish amber with a medium large, foamy, slowly diminishing, off-white head. Slightly sweetish, sourish, gently funky and vinous-fruity aroma of caramel, brett, leather, red berries, red wine and some oak. Minimally sweetish, quite sour, gently vinous-fruity and slightly funky taste of lemon, red wine, red berries, oak, caramel and a touch of leather, followed by a medium long, fairly tart, slightly woody-dry finish. Medium body, quite astringent and fairly effervescent mouthfeel, lively carbonation. Probably my final ever Nevel brew, as interesting as usual, fairly complex stuff.

0.33 l can from 'Craftbeers', best before February 2028. Black with a medium large, foamy, almost stable, light brown head. Sweetish-malty, gently roasty and a little fruity aroma of dark chocolate, roasted hazelnut, coffee, vanilla, quite some almond and traces of cherry. Quite sweet, malty, fairly roasty and a bit fruity taste of dark chocolate, coffee, roasted hazelnut, vanilla, almond and a touch of cherry, followed by a medium long, quite roasty-bitter finish. Full body, smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Tasty brew, although it doesn't really taste like a cherry crumble.
