0.75 l bottle from 'Drankgigant.nl', 2024 vintage, best before August 2027, cellared for almost a year. Almost clear, very dark ruby to black with a large, foamy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently yeasty-spicy and slightly fruity aroma of caramel, molasses, raisins, figs, marzipan and light coconut. Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter, gently yeasty-spicy and slightly fruity taste of molasses, caramel, clove, chocolate, raisins, figs, marzipan and some coconut, followed by a medium long, moderately roasty-bitter, slightly warming finish. Almost full-bodied, quite effervescent mouthfeel, very lively carbonation. Round, harmonious brew, still a little sharp maybe but other than that a fine sipper for when in Christmas mood.

0.33 l bottle from 'Brauart', best before July 2030. Clear, very dark ruby with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently roasty, slightly fruity and a bit yeasty-spicy aroma of chocolate, coffee, raisins, some overripe banana and hints of clove. Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter, gently roasty, slightly yeasty-spicy and a bit fruity-floral taste of chocolate, caramel, coffee, overripe banana, marzipan, clove and some raisins, followed by a short, moderately roasty-bitter finish. Almost full-bodied, smooth and quite effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Really sweet, but also quite tasty.

0.33 l bottle from 'Homberg's große Bierwelt', best before October 2026. Hazy, golden amber with a medium large, slightly fluffy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, quite fruity-floral aroma of mango, orange, honey and light corn flakes. Gently sweet, moderately bitter, quite fruity-floral taste of grains, orange, mango, some honey and light corn flakes, followed by a short, gently bitter, a little dry finish. Almost medium-bodied, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Alright!

0.33 l can from the brewery's web shop, best before December 2028. Very dark ruby to black with a thin, frothy, quickly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently fruity, slightly roasty and a little yeasty aroma of caramel, dark honey, red wine, chocolate and some lovage. Rather sweet, malty, moderately bitter, gently fruity, slightly roasty, a bit umami and a little yeasty taste of caramel, chocolate, dark honey, lovage, red wine, vanilla, licorice and some oak, followed by a long, gently roasty-bitter, a bit woody finish. Almost full-bodied, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Tasty brew, rather a black barley wine than a quad maybe. Fairly complex and intense, subtle barrel-aging, quite saturating.

Sweetish-malty, a little fruity-floral aroma of caramel, straw, some honey and light lemon peel. Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter, a bit fruity-floral taste of honey, caramel, grains, straw, toasted nuts and traces of lemon peel, followed by a short, moderately bitter finish. Medium to full body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Good one.
