440ml can. Clear dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of toffee, dried fruits, brown bread, brown sugar. Taste is rich, malty and sweet, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, raisins, dates, fruit cake, any whisky notes are very very subtle. Medium bodied, chewy. Lovely example of the style.

440ml can. Murky yellow with a white head. Aroma of guava, passionfruit, grapefruit, lime. Taste is very juicy, guava, mango, passionfruit, candied peaches, lime and grapefruit, gentle lactose sweetness. Full bodied, smooth.
Superb. One of their best Gold Tops in recent times, thankfully not heavy handed with the stupid lactose either.

500ml bottle, a mild gusher on opening. Pours almost black with a huge frothy beige head, good retention after it settled. Aroma of chocolate and roast malts, mild coffee, bit of dark fruit. Taste has more of the roast malt and coffee notes, light burnt note, chocolate, dark fruit and liquorice hints, ashy roasty bitterness. Light-medium bodied.

440ml can. Clear golden with a white head. Aroma of marmalade, dank piney resin, grapefruit, orange. Taste is resinous, piney, orange and grapefruit, a tad earthy, a bit of marmalade, caramel, bitter finish but not as strong as expected. Medium body. Great westie but no better or worse than the original.
