Can from Beer Republic Advent Calendar.
A: hazy bright ochre, stable, frothy, off-white head.
A: mango, orange zest, guava, peach, biscuit.
T: sweet mango & peach, bitter orange peel, biscuit.
F: floral & piney hops, some bitter citrus pith, mango.

Not terrible for a flavoured IPA, but I'll never be a fan.

Bottle from Hopduvel.
A: hazy dark brown, small, tan head.
A: melting milk chocolate, candied fig, toffee, old nougat, whisky.
T: very sweet red apple, fig, milk chocolate, caramel.

P: medium to full body, oily texture, soft carbonation.
Tasty, but the barrel doesn't really elevate the base beer.

7 January 2026. Bottled: 23/5/2021. Bottle from Stacks (?).
Hazy dark brown, stable, thin, tan head. Aroma of candi sugar, candied date, raisin, pear syrup, nougat, brandy, vague gingerbread, brown bread. Taste has sweet date, raisin & pear in a syrupy, almondy malt body with a touch of toast and a herbal tea-like note. Herbal hops in the finish, dried fruits, brown sugar, warming brandy-like alcohol. Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation. Quite likeable; indeed as mentioned before could benefit from a fuller body.

1 January 2026. Bottle from Stacks. Bottled: 7/4/2023. Vintage 2020.

Cloudy black,s table, thin, beige head. Aroma of fondant, chocolate ice cream, espresso, cigar, prune, brambleberry, black olive, charcoal, whisky. Taste has sweetish prune and fondant going over bitter coffee & tobacco with a vague hint of umami black olive. Peppery hops in the finish, ongoing roasted coffee notes, charcoal almost or charred wood, and a good dash of warming whisky alcohol. Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Quite a prominent roasted, almost burnt flavour here.
