Located at the start/end (depending on how you look at it) of Ostrava's party street, Stodolní, Labeerint, built on the ashes of (and still carrying some details from on the walls) the Music Cub E99, Labeerint is as of now as far as I'm aware the newest and maaaaybe the most serious craft beer place in town! Modern insides, unusual layout as Kermit says - but with enough seating. 12 taps, with a hefty regional component (Haksna, Duck&Dog, Kosmix, Mazák), but also with beers from other parts of the country (Raven, Brewnicorn, Vik, Permon), with Budvar 33 and a Mikkeller beer also randomly available. The young ladies were doing a nice job overall, and I got my beers quick enough. I'm positive I saw a fridge with more cans and bottles, but didn't investigate. Fairly busy on my visit, which is nice to see 18ish on a Sunday. Some gentrified pub food available, didn't peruse, though the prices look good. Still have a couple of places to visit, but this one's firmly on my "to revisit" list.

How to get here: I mean walking distance Stodolní, some 500m, less than 10 minutes walk from Elektra and Karolina as well. But - it's just by the Ostrava-Stodolní train station, which is extremely convenient - with good timing, even if you need to catch a train at Svinov, you can just take a direct train form there and arrive in 10-13 minutes for less than 1€. Beats taking the tram to Poruba sometimes as well.

Down in the southernmost suburbs of Ostrava, in between the paneláks, lies U Oráče, which can be described as if the encroachment of socialist architecture took a village pub and twisted it partly, but not entirely into something that almost passes as it belongs there, but still very much stands out in every way. You enter a little garden, and move up some rickety stairs into the bar area (some more seating available further to the left). The place is run by Létající Bezdomovec folks, and one of them was behind the bar, seemingly nursing the wounds of a long Saturday, exchanging banter with the only other guest there, but still doing his work professionally enough. 6 taps - 3 of them LB - their lager, their "bitter saison" (nice shape), and their raspberry-mint-something brut IPA (also nice), backed by a Nachmelená opice beer in shit shape (probably the beer's fault) and two brand new Vik beers from Prague. The non-LB prices seemed elevated for Ostrava standards, but well within reason (yes, you can order 0.3l btw). I'd *guess* English might be spoken, but didn't test it, getting by with my quasi-Czech. Food was available, bottles miiight be available but didn't check, was happy chilling at the bar, planning how to combine one more venue and my train home. I'll definitely make a point of hitting it up again when here, maybe in combo with other nearby places, maybe not. It's pretty essential I reckon.

How to get here: Actually better connected than it seems - take 980 or 985 from Náměstí Republiky to Ostrava,Hrabůvka,Benzina, go into the quarter, to the left of the Hruška and the first panelák and it's there. Alternatively, take tram 1 or 12 to Hrabůvka, kostel, then cross to the left and take mjr. Nováka until you hit Oráčova, turn left and go. Or take a bus from there to Benzina (or vice-versa). Very combinable (10 minutes walk through the leafy hood) with Žiznivý dromedár.

The Thirsty Camel seems, at first, and second, and third look, a place out of '90s or early '00s - its location in a typical ground floor "commercial" building between paneláks, its retro design, branding, heck, even the old school interior of the place - however, it's only been there for 8 years or so, taking over what was previously a sports bar and a trashy-seeming casino & bowling bar before that. Located strategically on the edge of Hrabůvka and Dubina areas of Ostrava-jih, it's not Ostrava's southernmost brewery (Starobělský is), but brewpub - sure. A nice, helpful lady handled pretty much all the service, at least this shortly after opening, and the place started filling up. The beer selection was quite wide - 7 beers, mostly lighter (it IS summer), classic and modern, and I was thankful to spot that they have a tasting set (the 4 regular beers) for cheap (81 I think, so barely above 3€!), which one could expand with extra 0.1l tasters for pennies more (21 or so). Superb deal that I was happy to jump on, barhopping alone and not really in drinking mood. They do have an assortment of modern and classic pub food, mostly of the fried kind, but I didn't feel like something heavy, so I gave it a skip - maybe Aero has healthier options if you're in the area, but the prices and sizes looked fair. The lagers were good, above average for the better part, and the ales, though not flashy, beat most CZ brewpub fare. Nothing too hypable but appreciated. All in all, a good place to visit, combinable with Aero, U Oráče (10 or so minuts walk through the hood), even Starobělská Koliba (though it's better to combine it with Aero, and then move on to ŽD and UO)!

How to get here:
From the center - 1 or 12 to Josefa Kotase, then cross left and follow the wall of buildings until you can go left before the Penny Market, follow the Alberta Kučery street until you hit it. Maybe exiting at Antonína Poledníka, jay waylking across the tracks and the street, crossing the parking lot and the park is quicker, but that's not recommended and we do not take responsibility for people doing it. :D Connected by 15 and 17 with Aero (ÚMOb Jih station).
