Can. Mitchell’s Wines. Mostly clear pale coppery brown. Sturdy off white foam stays the course. Looks well. Nose has light sweet caramel. Some hedgerow fruit. Light leafy hop. Taste is semi sweet with a hint of hedgerow fruit bitterness. Pretty smooth overall with decent body at the ABV. Light sweet light bitter finish with a touch of dryness to finish. Nice.

Can. Dram Shop Sheffield. Nearly clear straw colour. Thin and sticky lasting white foam. Nose has lemon pith. Clean dry cracker malts. Whiff of the wheat. Very light orangey notes. Taste is dry and light bitter with a touch of sweetness on the lips. Light and crisp. Dry and light bitter finish. Not a style I’m particularly familiar with, but I think this is a good example. Anyway it’s the best Buxton I’ve had in a while. Smashed it in minutes.

Bottle. Murky deep purple tinged brown. Slim off white head is leggy and lacing. Nose has nice barrel notes. Port up front. Lots of plum and raspberry. Some prune juice. More barrel notes showing cognac and sweet red wine. Taste is light sweet with a juicy bitterness. Decent beer up until the acidity kicks in hard and relentless. Renders it almost undrinkable. Almost.

Bottle. Mitchell’s Wines. Hazed deep slightly gingery gold. Solid lasting white head. Pretty punchy hoppage here. Very twangy and vinous. White grape to the fore. Bit of pink grapefruit. Bit of nectarine. Lean malts in the background. Taste is light dry and moderately bitter. Decent body overall. Light slightly vinous finish.

Bottle picked up at Boerenerf. Quite hazy and fairly dark gold. Impressive white swede. Nose has soft sweet cognac sodden oak. New leather. Sweet white grape. Hint of balsamic vinegar. Some light peachy notes. Taste has a flicker of fruit sweetness and a crisp light dry bitterness. Tangy and lightly puckering without being acidic. Drinks mighty easy with the 8.4% not really evident at all. Just brings on a well rounded mouthfeel. Juicy tart finish. Not the biggest barrel presence but enough to give good character. Another high class affair from this producer.

Can picked up at the brewery. Hazed pale slightly dirty gold. Scummy white head. Nose has oats and wheat. Some muddled up hop. Maybe some citrus notes. Taste is fairly sweet with some moderate bitterness. Drinks ok enough but it’s not anything I’d rush to drink again. Very much a collab beer with a theme behind it (in this case, Sheffield Beer Week).

Can picked up at the brewery. Medium haze on a medium gold. Loose scraggy head, as per a Triple Point pale. Nose has nicely twangy fruity white grape hoppage. Malts are slightly buttery but not to any real detriment. Taste has a whisper of sweetness but overall it’s pretty dry and bitter. Quite refreshing. A spritzy mouthfeel. Dry and bitter finish. Decent and definitely not short on hops.
