About Contoocook Cider

Owners of Gould Hill Farm, Amy & Tim Bassett, decided that due to the intense economic pressure and ever changing weather affecting small family farms, to look into value added products to help keep the farm sustainable. Partnering with Mark & Lisa Strader to produce premium hard cider has helped create a positive use for many apples that had minimal markets, and has brought back many great varieties of apples that were passed over for years ago like Esopus Spitzenburg, Black Oxford and Golden Russet to name a few.

Using many of the 100 plus varieties of apples we grow, makes unique blends from some of these long forgotten heirloom apples and even one variety you can only find here. Mark and Lisa work tirelessly mixing these flavors to allow the apples to dominate the flavor or our ciders, which are minimally processed and balance the acids, sugars and tannins to express the true character of the apples and fruits.
